Ser @serifyism has posted a bunch of WoL questions and I’m gonna take a stab at them--either answering in full or thru links to posts about Synnova because I think it’s nice to fill out ask memes like they are surveys sometimes.

✍️ Name

Synnova’s name is a play on words.

📖 Race / Clan

Synnova became a hyur midlander [read: half-elezen] only after I tried fantastia-ing her into every single race in the game. You think I’m kidding. I’m so not kidding. Here were some early in-game attempts:

She looked really good as a bun boy but ultimately I didn’t learn bun lore fast enough and started making half-elezen lore in my brain so. We somehow got here.

✨ Patron Deity

There is a theory that Rhalgr and Ramuh are the same deity... so Synnova’s in-game patron is Rhalgr. Her canon patron would be Ramuh if I could make it that because she owes a lot to the Sylphs. She is definitely a believer although she is quiet about her superstitions.

⚔️ Starting Class

Ironically Synnova was a Bard to LV64 before I killed the healer anxiety in me and she was reborn a WHM!! I love you group heals I love you pure heals I LOVE WHM!! I will probably main WHM forever but I *am* open to trying other classes eventually.

🌆 Starting City

Synnova started in Gridania which was good fortune because I did not want to retcon her introduction point after all the fantasias I went through. She’s originally from the Shroud, so it all makes sense, it all worked out.

🎨 Design (Bonus)

Synnova is my manic pixie dream girl and you will pry her slutty 00s fairy-core design from my cold ded hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check out some of these posts for her general aesthetic, which I call something like pastel goth fae princess.

My favorite thing about Synnova’s design is her eyes. My least favorite thing about Synnova’s design is that I made her stupid. But even that is a boon sometimes.

Does the character have other characters connected to them? Do you have a family tree and "offscreen" connections made up for them or do they exist in a vacuum purely for the purpose of the story?

I’ve made a handy-dandy Hunter family tree!! She has a lot of living family actually. Her half-brother is canonically dead now though he was a member of the Heaven’s Ward. Not that she knew that ever.

And Synnova doesn’t want kids!! Her own mom is a wretched lady who was super traumatized and took that out on Synnova. She doesn’t want to repeat that, or worse, be unable to provide stability because the Warrior of Light is always in need somewhere.

Ok ok ok positivity post for myself. Joy-hype time. Can I brag for a moment?

When I was a freshman in college I had a prof tell me “you don’t seem to have an eye for photography” and wowee did that ever kill my love of the hobby because I was in art school and I assumed he knew what he was talking about. Well guess what.

When I started taking gpose pics.

In May of this year.

I’m just. Really coming into a style and an expression of character that feels good!! I’m really proud of me for not giving up. For practicing and learning new skills. I can imagine with time in the game and tools I’ll only get even better. Heck it’s still JULY I’ve been gposing for 3 months AT MOST. Let’s go let’s. Fucking GO!!!!
