A really sweet and beautiful pre-war Stucky fic!

Summary: 

Bucky's got a date with the prettiest girl in Brooklyn. If only he could stop wishing she were someone else.

Excerpt:

“Steve, Emmeline Masterson is a goddamn travesty of a kisser,” he said, and Steve started up laughing again. He sounded almost delirious with it.

“Guess you’ll just have to show her how it’s done then,” he said, gasping.

“She won’t let me! She acts like I’m the one who’s got it wrong. What do I do?”

“I dunno, Buck. Just tell her you don’t like it that way.”

“Psh.”

“Well, why not? I mean, if it were me, I’d like to know if I was doin’ it wrong so I wouldn’t go around embarrassing myself all the time.”

And then, as if his mind took complete leave of his body, Bucky ducked in and laid a kiss right on Steve’s lush pink mouth. Just a quick press, softness and warmth, and he was gone again, on his back looking up at the ceiling, heart racing. His blood was thundering in his ears, and in his peripheral vision he saw Steve pop up beside him. Bucky closed his eyes. He didn’t need them to see what was in Steve’s expression: surprise and horror, all wrapped up in a little frown that pinched his whole face.

I was just looking through my bookmarks and thought this really deserved a rec. I read this fic a while ago and really loved it. As you know I am a sucker for pre-war Stucky and this fic hit all my sweet spots lol. It has a wonderfully real Bucky and Steve and their relationship progresses so naturally and beautifully. Really a perfect sweet fic.

have you done 7, 24, and/or 28? im always a slut for long fic recs

 7. longest completed fic you wrote this year

I don’t really write long fics (I consider long fics those around 80-100k or more), so the longest one is still  A Hyperactive Fruit, a Nasty Neighbour and a Love Story but  would never pan it as a long fic since it’s only 20k. Also, sorry for only talking about this fic lately, but it’s the best I’ve got ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  

24. favorite fic you read this year

I’ll have to say Howlr, even though I’m definitely biased since I beta it, but @partialtopotter brought such a fresh touch to the fandom with this fic and it made people literally fall in love with it. It’s a text fic with some prose in the later chapters and it’s absolutely hilarious, but at the same time it deals with many real issues and some parts will make your hear ache while the others will make it sing. If you are wary of text!fics I understand you, I was too, but just give it a shot, read the first 2 chapters and you won’t stop till the end.

Mind! It’s a WIP, but there’s only one more chapter to go so worry not!

28. longest fic you read this year

I haven’t read much this year, especially not long fics, but I am reading these two now (let’s pray I finish them sometime this year - at the pace I’m going it’ll be an achievement). I will recommend (again):

Changeling by Obscurus343  @randomcreativitybursts on tumblr: a WIP, but only 3 ch to go and posts once a week. Now at 68k will probably top at 100k. I already flailed over it here.

The case seems to be an excuse to get the Boy Who Lived away from the press for a while – Head Auror Savage is human, after all. But when they arrive to Barebone Castle, Aurors Potter and Malfoy realize that something sinister may indeed be going on.

That’s a problem… Much like Draco’s raging, eternal, highly inconvenient crush.

Shibboleths by Anonymous (bc it’s part of H/D Erised) 109k, complete, haven’t read even half of it but I can already tell you it is crazy good. The characterizations, the writing, GOD THE WRITING IS SO GOOD, and I have heard the plot is very original so there’s that too! 

Muggle Immersion co-Professor Harry Potter spends his days hanging with his son, reading to his “dog,” teaching magical kids about the internet with his cousin Dudley, and irritating Snape’s portrait. He’s understandably annoyed when his cosy life is interrupted by the Headmistress hiring on Draco Malfoy to be Hogwarts’ new Ancient Magical Cultures and Spellcasting professor. But then the explosion happens, and it turns out they’ll all need Malfoy’s knowledge if they want the magical world to survive.

Tell me if you give any of these a try and leave a nice comment for the author if you like the fic! They all worked/work so hard on these, they deserve all the praise! <3

There are so many long fics out there that I haven’t read, so PLEASE, if anyone has another rec (self-recs encouraged!) please reblog this with the rec, so that this anon (and others who like long fics) get those thousands of words worth of amazingness.

25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

Firstly,  haven’t been reading a lot of fic this year, least of all long fics, because I simply find it hard to complete a long fic what with so much going on in my life rn.

BUT I will recommend Changeling by Obscurus343 (on Tumblr) @randomcreativitybursts. It’s a WIP but all the chapters are already written and it posts once a week (very regularly!) - It’s now on chapter 9/12 and even though I’m a bit behind I 100% trust this writer and I know this fic will be amazing till the last word.

Trust me, read this, you won’t regret it. It’s fresh, it’s snarky, it’s plotty, it has an original setting AND story, plus it has AUROR PARTNERS HARRY AND DRACO TRYING TO SOLVE A MYSTERY. Just…it deserves all the love, tbh.

30. favorite fandom to read fic from this year

I…I don’t have any other fandom but HP. As for ships, drarry stays my favourite ship ever. Ever! But I did find some fresh love in Roarmac and Grudders, which, to say the least, was slightly unexpected. :D

Another Cocks and Joggers rec for today.

Anticipating Harry by @writcraft    3,3k | explicit

Draco has two issues with jogging bottoms. First, they’re ugly as sin. They’re grey, shapeless and unwelcome at a party which cost him quite a lot of money, thank you very much. Second, Harry Potter looks so fucking good in the wretched things, it’s making Draco lose his damn mind.

This is at times snort-inducingly funny and at times makes your heart clench with the strangest mix of emotions. Writcraft, as you all know, really is crafty with words. She writes so beautifully and makes you feel as if you’re there. Just...idek what to say. Just LOVE.

I have started reading the Cocks and Joggers fic entries now (yes because I’m slow and late and forever trying to catch up on stuff) and I just finished this fic:

Mugglewear and Broomstick Skills by gracie137or @callingdrarry here on Tumblr. 

The eighth years attempt a game of football in Muggle Studies. What is meant to be an insight into Muggle sports turns into a fashion show of ridiculous outfits and Harry nearly losing his mind. 

If you need a good laugh go read this fic, it’s hilarious! I mean I don’t want to spoil anything but there’s Goyle in a fluorescent tracksuit and there are snap on joggers in there. Like it’s comedy from start to finish and you will love it, I guarantee it.
