A highly decorative and detailed mid-19th-century map of ‘Syria’ (Syria, Lebanon, Palestine/Israel, and Gaza) which was drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin (vignettes by H. Warren & J. Rogers) and published in John Tallis’s Illustrated Atlas And Modern History of the World. (London & New York: John Tallis & co, c.1851). It covers from the Gulf of Iskenderun to the Dead Sea and includes modern-day Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and parts of Jordan and Turkey. The map includes beautiful illustrations by H. Warren of baggage camels, Jerusalem, and Arabs.
