just took my T shot and it made me realize i've never given my self-injection recommendations!
but i take two injections per week: my testosterone is a muscular injection, and my hadlima (previously humira) is a subcutaneous one. and i've seen and tried so many things to make injections easier, but the one thing i almost never see mentioned?
this is, imo, the single biggest factor in pain reduction. now, for the hadlima, this will require that you use an actual syringe versus the auto-injector system. i understand that not everyone will feel comfortable with that switch, so you do you! this is only advice if it's helpful
but something a dentist i interned for taught me was that a lot of the pain of injections is due to skin stretching from massive, sudden swelling, which makes a lot of sense. so with both my T and my hadlima, i inject and slowly push down. it means the needle is in me for longer - maybe 30, 45 seconds? - but it's so much less painful
