Sysadmin Diaries - Day 30
I discovered on Saturday that Werner Herzog’s film, Lo and Behold, Reveries of a Connected World is now on Netflix. I’d been looking forward to seeing this since I heard him interviewed in the Speaking in Tech podcast around a year ago. Herzog sounds like a cross between a lovable eccentric and a wise elder. But his film sounded compelling. I therefore stuck it straight on.
It is about the interaction between people and the Internet. To be honest, my initial impression was of slight disappointment. I think I was expecting some kind of commentary on the effect the Internet was having on the human race, But Herzog doesn’t tell you what to think, he just tells you stories and let’s you decide what they mean. The film is divided into several sections, the birth of the Internet, a good outcome the Internet has created, a bad thing, what would happen should it fail, future trends, etc. Although none of it is radically new, it is presented as a series of thought provoking episodes and beautifully presented, In short, if you have Netflix, well worth watching.
