I'm I the only one who has a massive horrible Hypefixation on Voltron currently???
And I have so many ideas about this given from this remake and the original from 1984.
And this dumb AU idea I had in mind where like after some tough battle, Voltron itself... himself, was badly damaged completely that even the pilots didn't know what's wrong and he formed a mix of personalities of his own given the lions. We could say its some sort of like DID thing in which the lions are separate alters and beings but when fused into Voltron he is his own being and main front which could but does not need to function with the pilots.
During that brutal battle, the pain was too much for the five individual lions to bear alone. To survive, their minds collapsed inward, fusing into a brand-new, trauma-born "Host" identity—Voltron himself (He/It).
Voltron cannot stay formed forever; the physical strain is too great. When the giant robot finally splits back into five lions, the main fronting identity instantly ceases to exist. He is forcibly dissolved back into the five pieces.
When the lions are separate, the pilots look at their individual lions and feel a profound sense of confusion from what happened. The lions are back to being separate alters, while "Voltron" remains a different persona of his own.
