Ingredients: 1 pound of thinly sliced beef. 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. 3 cloves of garlic, minced. 1-inch piece of ginger, minced. 1/4 cup of soy sauce. 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce. 1 tablespoon of Szechuan peppercorns crushed. 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced. 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced. 1 cup of broccoli florets. 1/2 cup of sliced mushrooms. 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. 1/4 cup of water. Cooked rice or noodles for serving. Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish.
Instructions: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and crushed Szechuan peppercorns. Set aside. In a separate bowl, combine the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Set aside. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until it's browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the sliced bell peppers, broccoli, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp. Return the cooked beef to the pan and pour the sauce mixture over the beef and vegetables. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes to combine and heat everything through. Pour the cornstarch slurry over the stir-fry and continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients. Serve the Szechuan beef stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy your homemade Szechuan beef stir-fry!
