suburbias task 002 :

home is where the heart is.

growing up in a small town may seem idyllic to anyone who isn’t from there, but sometimes a home can be dark and insidious. still, it’s where our lives begin, our mind takes shape and our bodies are supposed to rest and relax. while some couldn’t imagine any place they would ever be happier, some can’t wait to get out - no matter what they have to do for it.

task one : home.

for this task, we invite players and applicants to tell us all about their home; whether it’s their childhood home growing up, the place ( or person ! ) that makes them feel most like home, or their current home - there’s endless possibilities, and this task can be taken as either creative ( aesthetics / moodboards / etc. ) or developmental ( paras / journal entries / etc. ).

this task is not mandatory, but merely a tool to help establish your characterization and give others an inside peek as to who they are.

you may partake in this task before or after acceptance, throughout game play or as a way to introduce your character - whatever suits your mood !

you may also do this task as many times as you like. while future tasks will be more narrow with a subject point, feel free to use this as an open ended question.

suburbias task 001 :

mirror, mirror.

no one knows how important appearances are quite like the residents of a small town. and in cassel, where everyone knows everything about you, sometimes it feels like you lose yourself in the process.

task one : general aesthetics.

for this task, we invite players and applicants to create an aesthetic that suits your character - whether it’s the outside portrayal they show the world, who they are inside, or something in between.

this task is not mandatory, but merely a tool to help establish your characterization and give others an inside peek as to who they are.

heritage

for our third task, we ask you to explore your characters cultural and familial heritage. this can take place in many different forms - creating a family tree, outlining their genealogy through the generations, writing about special events and traditions their family’s had through the years. this is a task with multiple options - you can do both creative and developmental aspects for it. while aesthetics, graphics, templates, etc. are all certainly welcome - so are paras, ‘journal entries’, written stories of the characters family and where they’ve come from. dive deep into your muse, thinking about them and their relation to where they came from and what they want to bring forward into the world as they move forward. below are some linked resources, as well as a handful of questions to use as a jumping off point.

some questions to consider /

what do they think of when they think ‘heritage’? does it mean anything to them at all?

what does ‘family’ mean to them?

are they close with their family?

have they started their own family, away from their nuclear parents?

what traditions did they grow up with?

do they still participate in them currently?

have they changed and altered through the years?

are there any family heirlooms passed down from generation to generation?

how does their culture work into their heritage, and vice versa?

are there practices that others in their culture partake in that your character doesn’t?

for our second task, we ask you to explore the world of table top rpg dungeons & dragons - a fun way to create an extra dimension for your character, and a unique character connection for those in game as well !

in wolford falls, there’s a small group who get together on a regular basis at the local book shop - the book garden - after hours to play dungeons & dragons as a community. for those who’d like to be included, please let us know so we can create a list on our blog for future and current players to know who joins the games ! for our purposes, feel free to create a character that your muse would play as, or simply figure out which alignment they may be under the D&D lore ! we’ve included some links for various resources for you to use as well, and look forward to seeing what you might create!

here at thesewoodsrpg, we’ll be posting regular tasks for our members to take part in! every task will always be optional, but can help serve as a prompt to further development with your muse and help keep the dashboard flowing!

soundtrack.

everyone has their own personalized soundtrack - the songs that help them get through the day, the ones that stick around in their head for hours on an endless loop, the bops they blast as they drive around town. this task is simple - create an original playlist for your character !

you can find an example located HERE for what exactly we mean !

tasks at cumlaude are always optional - while they’re provided on a semi regular basis to help inspire and develop muse, no player is obligated to fulfill any specific task during gameplay. this task, in particular, is meant as a way to gain insight to potential players who are applying to the game. there are no specific themes in this task, though future ones will have something far more concrete. remember to tag all creations with cumlauderpg for all players ( current and potential ) to see, and for the INSPO BLOG to reblog at a later date ! any and all questions surrounding tasks can be found in THIS tag. we look forward to seeing what you come up with 🐺
