4x19 Casey’s not the guy II

Mindy: Jody, I don't know what I'm gonna do. I don't think things are gonna work out with Casey, but he's as not right for me as he was before. What's crazy is that the person (Marcus) I'm falling for makes even less sense. I can't stop thinking about him. He's actually a grown-up, and I think we have a spark. But I can't ask him out. It's Marcus. It's Casey's friend.

---------------------- Mindy: Casey and I actually broke up. Partly because of something you (Marcus) said..... In order for us to work, I would have had to change everything about myself or everything about him.

I just find her quotes interesting. Mindy is now knowing more on what kind of man she wants. She wants someone who is more of a grown-up or old man-like (Danny/Charlie/Jody(?)). 

I don’t know..Something-something is up. Almost, like a foreshadowing moment for a plot we don’t know much (because this season is so angsty and we have barely any info where the season is going.)

I feel like the episode was mostly about changes in a person. Like, uh Mindy not wanting to change for Casey, and Jody changing his outfit. It’s confusing to me on this ~changing topic, because Jody is interested in Mindy who is a opposite attract that can like challenge and change? him. So, since Mindy doesn’t want to be with Casey because of changing herself to be in relationship with Casey, is Jody wrong at the moment to want Mindy? Idk..I probably got this wrong.Like changing a person is different than challenging someone. It just that the Mindy’s plot and Jody’s plot seem to not go right next to each each other idk im overthinking and tired. Also, I wonder what does that mean for Danny/Dandy later on (or Jody..they’re both similar guys. ...ofc Mindy choose who she wants the most.) Anyway, this changing quote reminds me of this from 3x14.

Danny: I get it, people change. I mean, there are so many things I couldn't picture myself doing or liking before I met you. And that's why I love you. But I can only change so much. Anyway, you wouldn't like me if I became a different person. You wouldn't like me. Mindy: You're right.

hmm..BTW, I chatted with @lahiritangclan and our talks made me think more on what the writers are doing with the plot of Jody being interested in Mindy. I’m still kind of confused on why the writers are doing this and why it’s Jody (Mindy’s co-worker) and all that. But, I started to getting interested in it because @lahiritangclan said Jody is like Charlie in s2. Kaling had said s4b is like s2. Charlie was like Danny. This “Charlie-way” arc is more extreme than in s2. I think I got interested in this Jody arc or it made a bit more sense because in 4x19, Mindy realized she doesn’t want to be with Casey again. It was an episode of pointing out that Mindy knowing more on what kind of guy she wants. I think it’s something the writers are going into...with this direction like this is the kind of plot they are doing with Jody. Like, it’s Mindy will date a bunch/few of Charlies, but only wants Danny in the end.

So, we think Mindy will date Jody. Perhaps, Mindy is just having fun dating him, while one one can ever be better than Danny. Maybe there will be a love triangle plot this season or the next season. But, the point is Jody is one of the Charlies, and not Danny. Mindy will have to choose what she wants. Hopefully she chooses Danny or they find a way to get back together again.

I kinda think there’s parallels with the Danny and Christina-plot, with Danny and Mindy. 

Morgan sent a letter to Christina and he later regrets it..Then Christina appeared in “Santa Fe”. Hmm it’s kinda like when Morgan sent the letter that Jody regrets(ish) and Danny appeared or mad that this kind of letter was sent.

Danny’s upset with James Franco’s character sleeping w/”Mindy” and actually with Christina. Danny, this time, is mad at Jody, his co-worker, wanting to date Mindy and it’s like breaking the Bro-code even though Danny and Jody aren’t really friends.

Idk where Danny and Mindy’s relationship will go, but I knew in ep 13, WMMD will not end happy. Awhile ago, I had a thought. Maybe the TMP writers wanted them to go out of order or backwards again. You know how they like to show their relationship’s milestones(?) backwards? Mindy gets pregnant then they.... live together...get engaged... have a child...

They live apart before they get married like in a traditional way when couples usually get married first and then move in together for the first time. 

Just a thought a I had.

WIWS~ Alt-Kiss

This post is about characters, the ep- WIWS, Alt-Dandy, and cheating. I started this post after WIWS aired and then I meshed it up with another post. So, anyway, here’s a wonky post about our Dandy and Alt-Dandy in WIWS.

Characters-Mindy and Danny

I want to point out about what I think about Danny and Mindy’s character main traits. I don’t know what you call it. These traits that come up in these plots that are always be based on Danny or Mindy, and will always be brought up in The Mindy Project.

When The Mindy Project started, I was interested in their relationship and I knew right away they were endgame. They were the couple to root for. They reminded me of Booth and Brennan in Bones. Bickering pair, who are complete opposites, fell in love, and are meant to be together. All the characters have backstories and key descriptions of who they are. I have a theory, in a character-driven show, these characters have like a goal to grow and achieve it. Like, Mindy wanting love and the show ends with her having love and everything she wanted.

For some reason, it’s hard to explain Mindy’s goals or descriptions of her in the show. Maybe because the show is everything about her life. But, the biggest thing I noticed is that the show started with her starting her project to be a better person. The Mindy Project. Also, she wants to find love and is really into romantic-comedy movies. It makes me think her goal or something, is growing up to be a better person and learning that real love in realistic way is just as special as fairy tale and those Rom-Com moments. So, with the s4A and everything, Mindy is learning she can have it all. Learning what are important to her, while being crazy, loud, independent, and “a stone cold bitch.”

So, here’s what I think of Danny’s goals of the show. I always thought of Danny’s main descriptions of his character is; he’s the grumpy divorced guy with daddy issues. Like those are his major things he have to get through before he does something life major-like. Like marrying Mindy, I think.(Or not completely get over it, because the show is still going. It seem series finale thing to be solved.) 

Divorced-Christina, Daddy issues- Alan. Throughout the show, he had worked on his issues on them. He’s getting closure from them and growing into a better man than he was in s1. He was trying to make his relationship work, but failed with Christina in the end of s1 and beginning of s2.  With his dad, he mentioned him in s1 and other times, worked his problems with his dad in 2x14-The Desert, 3x15-DATC, and 4x06 to 4x11. Also, Danny is now a new dad. These things keep popping up for him. Even though he’s not quite over these Alan-Christina issues, I think s4 is about him overcoming them. I hope so. I hope in s4B. 

So, I think these main descriptions of Danny and Mindy and their issues/character traits, are showing up subtle-like in s4. I kind of think the writers are making them overcome their goals or so, on purpose. And, it’s for the next big change for the show. Like, in s1-haters to friends. s2- friends to couple. s3-couple to parents. s4-parents to...married?

My lil opinion of WIWS’s alt-world.

-I love AU plots. AU plots show us and the characters how the characters to appreciate what they got. It can go so angsty. I’m just amazed how strategic the ep, WIWS, was. Because in the end, everything fell into place. Mindy learned from her dream/alt-world, she doesn’t want to get married to be married, she wants to be with Danny. And, Danny learned from his trip at India, about arranged marriage and being married is not so bad or bad luck. WIWS ended its episode with them being engaged and they’re on the same page. 

Alt-Dandy

I have a lot thoughts on Alt-Dandy because of the plot was like a recap of TMP and the plot showed how Danny and Mindy being together is good for them!  Alt-Mindy is different than our-Mindy. I think Alt-Mindy doesn’t have someone (or something) to guide her or inspire her to be a better person. She doesn’t have Danny in her life. For Danny, to not have Mindy always be in his life, makes him a very rude and closed-off guy. It’s not hard to see why they’re not friends anymore in the beginning of WIWS’s alt-world.

The alt-kiss. Alt-Danny wanted her and kissed her back! I was not suspecting that scene. Where did that scene come from!? What I love about it, is that alt-Danny was so not into Mindy at the beginning of the ep. He kissed her back and I was surprised, but not really. We knew he would kiss her back, because it’s Danny! He always have feelings for her!

Cheating

In WIWS, it mentioned cheating. I don’t know why but I feel like this cheating thing that Danny deals with, is very personal important thing to his character and I think it’s something TMP wants to keep pointing out. It’s like a Danny-character thing. It’s amazing to me that TMP brought up the subject of cheating in WIWS.  If he met someone who cheated, he would easily wouldn’t trust or listen to this person. The writers brought it up again and onto alt-Danny in WIWS.

So, we know Danny was cheated by Christina. It was something that he had to move on from throughout the show. One of the things, that made him a grumpy miserable guy ever since TMP started. For some reason, when I think of, what Danny thinks of our/alt-Mindy, and cheating, I always think of the season one’s ep. Josh and Mindy’s Christmas Party. The ep when Mindy found out Josh cheated on her. I think it was one of those key moments of the show and their relationship, for Danny to see how Mindy felt so miserable when she got cheated. It means something to Danny to see that Mindy was so upset. It’s like he then knows, Mindy wouldn’t be the person to cheat, because how she reacted. He knows he can trust and befriend Mindy. He then knows she’s not like Christina. It’s like Danny learned Mindy would not cheat on someone or him. And, it seems like TMP shown how Mindy and Danny are careful not to cheat on someone and using others (like Cliff).

In WIWS, Mindy was surprised that alt-Mindy is cheating/(open relationship) on her husband, Matt. So, it’s interesting that alt-Danny brought up the fact that alt-Mindy was cheating on her husband during the alt-kiss scene. The cheating is also something that alt-Danny hates that alt-Mindy does. It’s like alt-Danny felt more betrayed of alt-Mindy for trusting her during s1-2, because she’s cheating/open relationship with her husband then. Even though, they’re not together, alt-Danny can’t be with someone who does that. And it’s interesting that alt-Danny started to get vulnerable with Mindy,(who was pretending to be Alt-Mindy for the week), when Mindy said she would never cheat on him. It hits him. This is the Mindy he wants and always wanted since. “You make me a better person and I make you a better person.” They kissed in the rain.

In WIWS and TMP, I think Danny fell in love with Mindy when Mindy started to do her ~The Mindy Project~. So, alt-Danny began to fell for alt-Mindy when she is our-Mindy, who was always doing ~The MIndy Project~.

I still wanna know or what others wonder of when Mindy went from “I love Danny” to “I want Danny to marry me.”

I think it’s a big character moment for Mindy right and I don’t think many people talked about that. I guess?

Danny: I wasn't weeping. Jeremy: You were weeping. You've got such passion. I can only imagine the vigor you apply between the sheets. Danny: That's enough of that.

Mindy: Are you Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride? .... You know, I think that Inigo is actually better than Wesley. Josh: Duh. Mindy: What do you mean, "duh," Josh? Is that such a pervasive opinion that it warrants a "duh"?

Josh: Yeah, he's passionate. He's persistent. He's a badass. He's-- he's good-looking.

I was re-watching Halloween and I remembered watching this long ago and thought Mindy and Danny can be a good fit to be as a couple because they’re both passionate. This time I noticed the word appeared twice. Like it’s some meaningful clue. heh. Also this episode is so awkward to watch. lol

My guess would be in TDWLE when Danny goes along with Mindy's lie so she won't get in trouble. Then in CPT, she's running errands with Annette without Danny. Getting more involved in Danny's family without Danny.
