I know everyone is super anxious about the last two episodes but I wanted to ask you, do you think it really matter what happens? Regardless of if Mindy ends up with Jody or Danny, we will not be seeing Danny's presence. If in the finale she ends up with Jody, we are likely to see new love interest in s5. If she ends with Danny, it would not last due to Chris Messina's involvement in s5. Ultimately, there is no happy way for s4 to end ever since the Messina news came out.

You make good points. It’s all up in the air. Anything could happen. Will the show go where I don’t want to go. Dramatic/negative , or sweet and happy.

I don’t know how s5 will go. I don’t know how much Messina will be in it. S5 will have 16 episodes. Maybe he will be in it for 12 episodes or 4 (eek).  Or, maybe he’s just “special guest star” because of business stuff. I don’t know. And, Garrett/Jody is a special guest star too and he was focused a lot in s4b and he will be in s5 too. hmmm I also don’t know if Messina will be absent in 4 episodes in a row or it’s like every 5 episodes, he’s absent for 1 episode.

I have some positive speculations on what s5 could be for Danny and Mindy while Danny/CM be absent on some episodes. Danny and Mindy get together in s4 finale or s5 first episodes....

-Danny becomes a stay-at-home dad. TMP is mostly a office show, so there’s ways to not have Danny show up.

-Or, they’re together, and the story goes as usual but some episodes, Danny isn’t in it. Kind of like the road trip plot but a better and simple whatever reason. Like he’s sick or he have to travel for work or something. (It would be cool if absent-Danny episodes they mention Danny a lot. Like s4 Mindy and Peter-episode, Under the Texan Sun.)

-Or, an episode like Under the Texan Sun. Where it’s a really good ep in my opinion and it’s focused on Mindy. Maybe like in s5, an episode that it’s Mindy-driven or Mindy with friends episode. An episode that doesn’t really need Danny to be there. 

-(or s5 is them rebuilding their relationship again. Like, maybe they date. Maybe Leo is part of something and they meet up weekly. Or, do couple therapy.)

*I don’t know how Jody thing will work. Maybe he becomes a background minor character like Collette, Jeremy, Beverly, Tamra. ???

So, yeah there are some ways TMP could do with Danny and Mindy as a couple in s5 or later on. Based on spoilers, it seems the writers are saying it’s Danny and Mindy-positive. It’s also Danny-heavy in the last two episodes which I think it means the writers will show Danny’s POV and stuff..and I hope that means they still care of Danny. I hope the writers showed that he changed to be a better man and still fight for Mindy’s love. 

I know it’s tough right now. We just gotta wait and see. :x

writers moving story around

Based on the 4x25 promo clip, Jody mentioned he gave chlamydia to his gf. The chlamydia plot reminds me of when TMP was on hiatus till s4b or earlier, and the white board with all the spoilers. The white board, in the writer’s room, had 4x14 or 15 that mention something about chlamydia. 

I find that interesting. Maybe the rest of other work in progress episodes will be later on as in s5.  i dont remember much now and idk if this all matters xP

so im thinkin of the last group of s4b’s episode titles..and and ep 21, Under the Texan Sun, that we just watched.

Its like the s4b starts over again. Because Mindy was jealous and sad of Danny dating again. Also, idk what with the J/M part because recently Mindy was jealous of Danny, when she knows or thinks Jody have feelings for her. Was ep 21 moved around or was just meant to be like a bottle/standalone episode.

The next episode is called Princeton Charming. Maybe Mindy dates the professor. If so, what about her knowledge of Jody? ??? Or the plot is about something else.

 Hmm maybe in No Lying in Softball, Jody confesses that he have feeling for Mindy? I guess Jody's one-sided crush-plot still continues for awhile. (sigh im tired of this one-side crush-plot dragging in the s4b. ..I just want season finale to come here already.)

4x19 Casey’s not the guy II

Mindy: Jody, I don't know what I'm gonna do. I don't think things are gonna work out with Casey, but he's as not right for me as he was before. What's crazy is that the person (Marcus) I'm falling for makes even less sense. I can't stop thinking about him. He's actually a grown-up, and I think we have a spark. But I can't ask him out. It's Marcus. It's Casey's friend.

---------------------- Mindy: Casey and I actually broke up. Partly because of something you (Marcus) said..... In order for us to work, I would have had to change everything about myself or everything about him.

I just find her quotes interesting. Mindy is now knowing more on what kind of man she wants. She wants someone who is more of a grown-up or old man-like (Danny/Charlie/Jody(?)). 

I don’t know..Something-something is up. Almost, like a foreshadowing moment for a plot we don’t know much (because this season is so angsty and we have barely any info where the season is going.)

I feel like the episode was mostly about changes in a person. Like, uh Mindy not wanting to change for Casey, and Jody changing his outfit. It’s confusing to me on this ~changing topic, because Jody is interested in Mindy who is a opposite attract that can like challenge and change? him. So, since Mindy doesn’t want to be with Casey because of changing herself to be in relationship with Casey, is Jody wrong at the moment to want Mindy? Idk..I probably got this wrong.Like changing a person is different than challenging someone. It just that the Mindy’s plot and Jody’s plot seem to not go right next to each each other idk im overthinking and tired. Also, I wonder what does that mean for Danny/Dandy later on (or Jody..they’re both similar guys. ...ofc Mindy choose who she wants the most.) Anyway, this changing quote reminds me of this from 3x14.

Danny: I get it, people change. I mean, there are so many things I couldn't picture myself doing or liking before I met you. And that's why I love you. But I can only change so much. Anyway, you wouldn't like me if I became a different person. You wouldn't like me. Mindy: You're right.

hmm..BTW, I chatted with @lahiritangclan and our talks made me think more on what the writers are doing with the plot of Jody being interested in Mindy. I’m still kind of confused on why the writers are doing this and why it’s Jody (Mindy’s co-worker) and all that. But, I started to getting interested in it because @lahiritangclan said Jody is like Charlie in s2. Kaling had said s4b is like s2. Charlie was like Danny. This “Charlie-way” arc is more extreme than in s2. I think I got interested in this Jody arc or it made a bit more sense because in 4x19, Mindy realized she doesn’t want to be with Casey again. It was an episode of pointing out that Mindy knowing more on what kind of guy she wants. I think it’s something the writers are going into...with this direction like this is the kind of plot they are doing with Jody. Like, it’s Mindy will date a bunch/few of Charlies, but only wants Danny in the end.

So, we think Mindy will date Jody. Perhaps, Mindy is just having fun dating him, while one one can ever be better than Danny. Maybe there will be a love triangle plot this season or the next season. But, the point is Jody is one of the Charlies, and not Danny. Mindy will have to choose what she wants. Hopefully she chooses Danny or they find a way to get back together again.

jody and mindy/ s4b angst

First of all, I’m pretty sure Danny and Mindy are endgame.

I’m wondering why the writers want to start this Jody and Mindy thing.

I’ll be kind of surprised if Mindy and Jody are dating or dealing with their feelings with each other all along in s4B. Because, so far, the writers and cast haven’t like talked about it... promote it. Like, I would think Kaling would say “Mindy starts dating, and one of the guys is from work, and there’s like a love triangle starting.”  Maybe she will but it’s odd to me. Or, the Jody and Mindy thing doesn’t last long or it’s not the main thing of the s4b.

So ...I don’t know what’s up with this Jody and Mindy thing. 

I’m just trying to figure out what is s4b main arc is. Like, where does this arc lead to, patterns and stuff. We only know three-ish episodes so far out of 13. So far I’m thinking Danny and Mindy date other people to learn what they really want and change and grow, etc. My main theory..is that Mindy dates like Bryant and learns she’s not ready to date like Bryant is or learning that single-mom dating is hard and she have to be careful too. Just little things throughout the s4b. Same with Danny. I don’t know how they interact again and go “wow we both changed and are on the same page now. Let’s get married.”

This season is angsty and angsty stuff makes the fandom go crazy! We don’t know how s4 will end and so you can be negative/troll the fandom and stress out or ...step back and wait for facts and while being positive. Waiting is hard.

 So, I think what they’re doing with Danny and the couple, is doing this ‘full circle arc’ (or, I guess, can be called redemption arc) and they come back stronger than from the beginning (4x01). Right now, we’re seeing Danny at the 180 degree arc(half circle) and he’s at his worst or that is him and Danny and Mindy are very at odds. Things they disagree with caught up to them after they had Leo. So, during this ‘full circle arc’, is that we’re supposed to see them at their worst and struggling. And, I believe it’s not bad writing way...but to see them working on their problems and then changing and growing. It sucks a lot to watch this ...but we have to WAIT. This is still an arc and it’s not done. S4 is not done! If you can’t handle watching this angsty arc of s4B, then perhaps watch the finale and read spoilers only (wait till s5) and then decide if it’s worth it to keep watching.

 I’ve seen this arc a lot lately this year and and in the end of the season, our fave characters are where we want them to be at. (Carol, Bellamy, Danny?) I think to criticize on this full circle arc (whatever it is) is that ..Is this still interesting to watch? is it too far gone OOC for the character? Do the writers still respect the characters still? I understand the fear of bad writing and writers dead-stop ignoring our faves and treating them bad. We don’t want to be hurt in the end. It depends on the fan. So, to me, the show isn’t going downhill yet. I still have faith in the writers, so far.

However this Jody thing is kinda putting The Mindy Project down. I don’t know what they’re doing with Jody. If I think what they’re doing is some love triangle and in the end it’s Danny and Mindy being endgame. I find that s4b not interesting to watch. I also found it really dumb idea to be the thing to challenge Mindy or something. He’s like the extreme version of Danny..dick-Danny. I can’t see him be able to want to be with Mindy and in long term. It kind of hurts the Danny and Mindy relationship’s dynamic on the show. If Mindy is able to get Jody to like her and change for her, why can’t Danny do that when Danny is her main leading man, endgame. And it seems like bigger dynamic /challenge thing (and in short time-less than a season), between Jody and Mindy, if they’re dating and being happy. Like it leaves Danny to be less interesting or something to me. idk.  Also, I really don’t like that since Jody is her co-worker and he’s like one of the main minor-characters on the show. 

It’s just seems so dumb to start this Jody and Mindy thing. Maybe Jody would only be in s4 and he’s meant to challenge Mindy and Danny? Anyway, this pattern I thought of um... Jody is like Danny ..Jody is going through the same route that Danny did on falling in love with Mindy, in s1-2, but it’s different ..and Jody failing it(because Danny and Mindy are endgame). There seems to be parallels between them (even in s4A) and I don’t know what for in this s4b story. idk.. maybe it’s too early to think of anything yet and maybe it’s all one-sided and Mindy doesn’t want to be with him. Maybe, the Jody and Mindy thing is only like 5 episodes and really subtle-like, and it’s something to learn more about Jody, grow to like him, and make him a fuller character. 

I just hope that when Mindy and Danny get back together, it feels like they earned it.

I like your "enough said" theory, but even if they can get Chloe sevigny back I can't imagine they'd be able to get her for more than a day or two, not an extended plot. I do really hope they can get her back though!

Hey! Thanks for liking my theory-idea even though it’s a high chance that won’t happen. haha 

It would be cool to have Chloe back for more than one episode or one. I hope she comes back and we learn more about Danny and Christina’s relationship. But, I know it’s something the TMP writers were thinking about long ago and things can change.

Enough Said

one of my speculations  on what will Mindy will do in s4B. 

kind of a spoiler (based on Reddit Q/A, MK did) and mostly speculations....

Long ago, TMP writers/MK wanted to bring back Christina in s4B. I don’t know if they actually will have her come back or not. We don’t know for sure.

Anyway the idea of Christina coming back kind of makes me think maybe TMP writers might do a plot similar to the plot of the movie, Enough Said.

Like it might go like Mindy will befriend with Christina and Christina wouldn’t know that Mindy was/is with Danny. They start being friends, sharing secrets. Christina will tell what it’s like to be married with Danny.  

While being friends with Christina, Mindy haven’t told Danny that she was hanging out with Christina lately. I don’t know how Danny and Mindy will go in s4B. Maybe they hang out a lot from parenting Leo and taking couple therapy sessions. 

So, then eventually Christina and Danny learned Mindy had been going back and forth with them in secret and they got mad. I don’t how the story ends... Mindy finally learned how much she wants to be with Danny and what she wants.

I’m not sure what episodes TMP had filmed. Sounds like HULU still have a deadline for them to get their filming done or there’s less Danny in the first few episodes.

 So far, I think think they filmed ep 14 and soon ep 16(and maybe with another ep. Like half of 16 and half of 17 for a week.).  *ETA. Or They filmed ep 14 and 15, and will do 16.. or half 14/15 and will do 16.

* Anyway, I have a theory that ep 14 is all about Mindy and ep 15 is all about Danny..on what they did during the timejump to now-April(?)
