Robyn was silent as she crept through the town. It eerily reminded her of the night she left nearly three weeks ago. An impulse decision she knew was bad before she even crossed the town line but she did it anyway. She needed to get away. This town felt like it was suffocating her, it felt like the walls were closing in and all she could hear were the whispers and the rumors and she could only feel the looks. She hated it so she left.

But the outside world wasn’t a place she wanted to be for long. Not by herself. Not at 16 and especially not couch surfing or hanging out with strangers in abandoned buildings. But she did it and she couldn’t take it back. She had made the mistake in leaving and now she had to face her family and friends and just hoped that they forgave her for leaving.

She turned down the familiar street and walked until she paused in front of the large white house. Maybe she should show up in the morning when everyone was awake? Or she could just sneak in and act like nothing ever happened. Highly unlikely. She needed to do this now and get it over with. She trudged up the walk way and slide her key out of the pocket of her loose fitting overalls and slid it into the lock. The click sounded far too loud in her opinion and she hoped that no one heard it which was a ridiculous thought.

Once the door was open she peeked her head inside and breathed in a sigh of relief at seeing no one there. She stepped in and closed the door behind her as silently as she could. She walked about the first floor and once she believed that she was in the clear she made her way to the kitchen to grab something to eat since a protein bar wasn’t the best thing to try and get by on.
