ordering coffee should be simple enough, right?
the menu is filled with cool english names. numbers are universal, so the prices are also easy to understand. it should have gone by smoothly, really.
so where did she screw up?
she just wanted a milk caramel. why was the guy behind the counter offering her limited edition travel mugs? and what was wrong with the money she tried to give him – could it be she still hadn’t figured out korean currency?
so many questions bothered her, but the real issue was how she was holding up the line. stress was clear on her features, and it only got worse by the second. the few words she knew were blurted out in anxious apologies, and the staff member seemed just as flustered as shuhua. it was a scene right out of a nightmare in her eyes, so much so that she actually turned around and began leaving without her coffee or her change. on her way, she bumped the guy right behind her, though she was far too embarrassed to realize.
why is everything so difficult around here?
