T-Michael AW19 Preview - Pitti Uomo 95
The rise of sportswear seems to be casting a shadow of sorts into the tailoring world, as if suits and fitted garments were reserved solely for stiff bankers from older generations. This however, couldn’t be further from the truth, as bespoke tailor T-Michael showcases collection after collection. Besides being one of the most stylish and charismatic creatives in the business, whose grey dreadlocks and deep voice have become a trademark of sorts, Michael is also part of a dying breed who advocates the use of an uniform.
It’s rare to spot Michael without one of his exquisitely tailored suits, beautifully paired with an unbuttoned fitted shirt and a range of carefully curated accessories. For many, he is the epitome of cool and his suits are a crucial part of it; whenever I hear friends or acquaintances say they would never be caught in a suit, Michael’s the reference I show to make them change their minds.
For his AW19 collection, the Bergen-based designer and one half of the duo behind Norwegian Rain, delivers a range of his trademark single and double-breasted suits with unique design, cut and attention to small details such as pleated flap pockets. The seasonal offerings also carries on the collaboration with Y. & Sons, through exclusive handmade kimonos crafted according to century-old techniques. Monochrome patterned knits also made the cut, handmade in Bolivia and providing the perfect match for Michael’s suits.
Stay tuned as the collection hits his website, Norwegian Rain flagships and other select retailers worldwide.
