AN ODE TO T-STOPS
Oh, the t-stop, most majestic of methods
to stop your gliding way out of control
I can do you on one side to great applause (ok that was a stretch)
but with the other, comes great rigmarole

Derby frustrations.
Everyone has that one thing they can't seem to do and it really frustrates them. Personally I struggle a lot with t-stops and transitions. Since I have started roller derby I just seem to not be able to put the right pressure on my back skate so I can stop. I can slow down but I can't stop. I think my main issue may be the layout of my wheels. Since I have both hard and soft wheels I think my soft wheels grip the floor too much and my hard wheels don't girl enough. I've found plow stops to be really easy. With transitions I always seem to carry on going in a full circle or I just end up in a heap on the floor. I have got better but I always think my footing isn't quite right. I've tried so many different ways of attempting to do them but one hasn't really stuck. Now it's a 50/50 chance to throw myself into it and it either come out really well or really poor. Even though I feel like I can't do these a lot of the time I just keep trying. There's no point in just giving up because then you won't learn anything. Always ask a team member for help they're there to support you, not to laugh at you.
