Celina should have known better than to try to leave the hidden passageways in the castle. But she hated being down there. She could fight. Her brothers had taught her from an early age, yet they had sequestered her down with the rest of the women and children. It was a battle that needed every capable warrior and just because she was the crown princess didn’t mean that she needed to be kept locked away. Dressed in commoner’s wear, she slipped out of the sight of her bodyguard and out into the company of the troops. No one would recognize her. How could they? The king had kept her locked away allegedly for her own safety.
She fought long and hard, but their side ultimately fell. Many were killed, a few were captured, including her. Now, she was shackled in the dungeons awaiting her fate. What good would come from capturing a few soldiers on the field, she wondered. At the very least, no one knew who she was. Her identity had to remain a secret.
