I was looking at your prompts. Can you give me more details on the Medieval Dark Fantasy and The Gothic Romance?
The Gothic Romance was an original concept I posted on Tumblr here and ended up submitting it to be prompted and it was! The plot summary is:
Clarke Griffin isn’t sure what to expect when she’s summoned to the Blake Estate late one night. They’re in need of a doctor, but rather than attend the hospital like most of the citizens of Arcadia, they’ve called upon her. The young, female doctor who causes a stir everywhere she goes and is followed by whispers about her unnatural ability at curing people (even as far as calling her the Commander of Death).
Bellamy Blake has felt trapped in his own home for too long, but with his sister falling into a mysterious coma, he knows he won’t be going anywhere soon. Their estate is filled with too many demons, though he’s fairly certain he has even more. But the arrival of Miss Clarke Griffin brings in a flurry of new emotions he hadn’t expected. She a moment of brightness in the dark quarters of his life. Though as he’ll quickly learn, she has her own secrets as well.
Romantic tension begins to build between them as their world crumbles around them. Compared to the sleepy village below, the Blake Estate seems to draw its energy from the intense emotions that it brings out of people. It then all leads to a head when Bellamy’s younger sister, Octavia, awakens from her coma — bringing with her a wreckage of memories and family secrets back to life.
Because sometimes the ghosts of our past that haunt us never truly leave us.
So it’s going to be drawing on Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Fall of the House of Usher” and Guillermo del Toro’s movie “Crimson Peak” as similar vibes. The gothic romance genre was a favorite mine in my literature classes and learning about the tropes in it so it’ll have dark secrets, intrigue, and pining!
The Medieval Dark Fantasy is based on a moodboard that @helloeurydice created! It doesn’t have a Tumblr post at the moment but you can check out here on my Twitter from when I first promoted it to be prompted! Its plot is:
Clarke Griffin, Wanheda, is the daughter of a long line of female assassins. It’s her family legacy; to dabble in blood magic and death is her calling. When she turns eighteen, it’s her turn to go out on her quest to prove herself to the family. She joins an unsuspecting group of travelers, her identity unbeknownst to them. They’re simply strangers who will be her mask amongst the rest of the world, collateral only if they get in her way. But there’s one, a passionate adventurer, who seems to be able to see right through her. Clarke’s never let someone get close to her before, but Bellamy Blake just might be the first.
It has some vague connections to an OC I had created a ~vibe~ for but couldn’t think of anything to do with. Then Lea shared one of the images in the moodboard and BOOM I had a complete idea and was in love with it. I think it’ll have some vague The Witcher TV show vibes (not plot but aesthetic), and it’ll be a multi-chapter one! I love dark fantasy stories and I always want to explore the mythology of the “Wanheda” imagery so I’m using that and turning it into a blood magic assassin role that Clarke steps into!
These are both really super cool prompts that I’m beyond thankful other people were interested in prompting me for @t100fic-for-blm because they are RIGHT up my alley and I’m super excited for when I’ll be able to start focusing on them and getting them written!
