Record Opening Stand Give Pakistan 2/1 Lead Against Proteas

3rd T20 International - South Africa vs Pakistan - Centurion

Pakistan's batsmen proved to be superior to the South African line-up as they chased down a target of 204 to win the third T20 International at SuperSport Park, Centurion to lead the fourth match series 2-1 on Wednesday.

Facing a South African bowling attack without their big guns, the Pakistani batsmen wrapped up the match with two overs remaining losing just one wicket that of their captain Babar Azam who made 122 off just 59 balls with 15 fours and four sixes.

Babar and his opening partner Mohammad Rizwan (73) with five fours and two sixes shared in a partnership of 197 runs in 17.4 overs before he was caught behind. The  two teams will now go into their fourth and final series-deciding match on Friday.

Earlier put into bat South Africa's opening pair of Aiden Markram and Janneman Malan made merry through a 103-run stand to lay the foundation for a big total.

Malan made 55 off 40 balls with two sixes and five fours, while Markram top scored with 63 from only 31 balls with four sixes and six fours.

Their stand ended when Markram was bowled by Mohammad Nawaz in the fourth ball of the 11th over with the total at 103.

Incoming batsmen George Linde (22), Rassie van der Dussen (34) and Heinrich Klaasen (15) kept up the scoring as the South Africans finished at 203 for 5 in 20 overs.

This game will go on record as a match where both teams in a rather unique manner recorded a century run opening stand each. The Proteas openers put on 103 and the Pakistani openers put on 197 runs.

South Africa Win Easily By 6 Wickets To Level Series 1-1

2nd T20 International - South Africa vs Pakistan (Mumbai)

South Africa posted a six-wicket win with six overs to spare in the second Twenty20 International against Pakistan at the Wanderers on Monday to level the series 1-1 after chasing down a 140 target.

Opener Aiden Markram who scored a fifty in the first T20, led the charge for South Africa as he made 54 from just 30 balls hitting seven fours and three sixes as his team finished the match in 14 overs.

Skipper Heinrich Klaasen also chipped in with 36 from 21 balls with four fours and a six as none of the Pakistan bowlers had any answer to stop the flow of runs.

Pakistan winning the toss and electing to bat first suffered a total collapse after their prolific opener Mohammad Rizwan who made a match-winning unbeaten 74 in the first match, was dismissed in the first ball of the match.

Skipper Babar Azam was the only Pakistan batsman to offer some resistance making 50 in 50 balls with five fours as they ended their innings at 140 for 9 in the 20 overs.
