Taylor saying “otherwise we (her team) would’ve invested in beads” on the graham nortan show makes me kind of uncomfortable, especially with all the variants of EVERYTHING for this album rollout. Say what you want about this album and taylor but at the end of the day, she is a billionaire and profit is always on their minds. The friendship bracelet phenomenon was a safe space on the Era’s Tour where everyone could enjoy a free piece of “merch”. Even if you didn’t trade, chances are at the Era’s Tour you probably received a bracelet. It just always seems nowadays she wants to make a profit off her fans - yes I am well ware that ‘well, yeah. how else is she going to make money’ - she’s a billionaire in terms of assets that are still growing. Her money will always grow - she earns about half of her royalties in streams. People WILL stream her albums. That is a fact. She does need to be making THIRTY FUCKING SIX variants of one album (The Tortured Poets Department). We have just entered the Showgirl era and yet the need to consume all of her physical media is being shoved down our throats. Listen, I collect vinyls - a huge reason on why I started is because of Taylor. I literally have a Life of A Showgirl vinyl in the mail. I know that she is not telling her fans ‘oh, you guys MUST buy this vinyl or grab this cardigan” (don’t even get me started on that: NOT EVERY ERA NEEDS A CARDIGAN). She isn’t saying it because she knows her fans. Certain fans will and have supported her blindly - bought all The Life of a Showgirl physical media (I honesty don’t even know a number for her because I am SURE it will change). Producing the show in theatres is just the cherry on top. And yes, I am going to go see the show in theaters - I can go see her and also be aware of the fact that she is completely misusing her relationship with her fans.
I don’t know - that was just my two cents.
