I read Credence, and as per usual, y'all doing too much. Every review I've seen is all, "this is the worst book ever," "Penelope needs jail," etc. Calm down, Prude-ence, you can un-clutch the pearls. It's a taboo romance, you knew that going in.
Every booktuber thumbnail is so egregious. Booktok does the most when making this book seem so far out. Maybe it's me. Am I disturbed?
No. I'm not because I think some of you dark romance broads are fucking nuts. I'm all fine with a little grey area romance but that dark romance shit goes way to fucking far.
Spoilers
They aren't related, at all, they aren't even family in the sense that she grew up with them. I don't like that she's 17 in the beginning, just make her grown, especially because Jake being Tiernan's "legal guardian" never becomes a part of the story. Have him reach out after the deaths, and she goes to Colorado to get away from prying gossip rags.
My main complaint is that it is too fucking long AND vanilla. I was expecting more freakiness. They mention spanking and ropes, Douglas mentions strung up deers in the garage like eight times. Not once is Tiernan is strung up like one. Five hundred pages get the fuck out of here. Like what are we doing?
Second complaint, Kaleb sucks. I could not believe he was the one. Not even because of the way they first met which was fucked up but also kind of hot, so whatever. But he just never gets past that. And he's just really mean to her. I can accept a lot in a taboo romance, but the love interest being mean to the lead is not one of them. There's a way to make him aggressive and stand offish without making him an asshole.
Also, l could not get past this big ass custom-built manse only has ONE bathroom. One! For a tri-level "cabin." That pissed me off so bad. A house this big should have at least two full bathrooms and one or two half baths. Jake's master should have an en-suite. The 2nd level hallway should have one full bath for the rest of the rooms to share.
The first level should have a half bath. Kalebs's room is a toss-up. It could have either or neither. It depends on if the original intention was storage. But I'm guessing it was always meant to be his room since no one ever mentions him having a bedroom on the second floor. So he should at least have a half-bath.
That irked me so much. Any time it was mentioned because that is just so poorly thought about. Honestly, they should have an outdoor or a bare bones garage shower, too. They are hunters. That means blood and dirt. No one wants to track offal through their house.
