Notes from book 3 of foreigner by c. J. Cherryh inheritor
on August the 17 of this year, I read Inheritor by C. J. Cherryh and now I understand why some people suggest to skip the first 2 for this one, its kind of good. as usual Swearing and spoilers ahead.
Chapter 1
Bren eats eggs with lord Geigi , Tano and Algini by the seaside and manages to explain what the hell happened in the earlier books quite well. Also explains a bunch of shit I missed because I am a periodic fool. Grigiji, the name of the astrologer that saved the world, my bad. Also yes he lost sleep from nightmare scenarios. It sounds like the government punished bren by keeping him from seeing his mother. It seemed like jase was a bist scared and unhappy while on the planet with him. Gaylord Hanks , who the fuck give first names to a kid that?. He gets a message after leaving geigi to go back to the guild approved hotel when he gets a message from Surieji
Chapter 2
Hes looking at the spacecraft being built by the aveti. He give a whole speech about why the spaceship is kind of important and meets back with Geigi. Great they just got news that lord Saigami was assassinated and Geigi might be the suspect, great. Direiso
Chapter 3
So it seemed like I got some flowers from supporters and the workers of the ship of his.
Lady direiso might be the real target of the assassination on saigami. It also seems like banichi and jago are both busy with something had haven't talked with him in months. Describing them in the same paragraph as being "in that spot humans kept soft and warm and vulnerable in their hearts". Tano and Algini are just stuck together personally and algini was so quiet algini was thought to be dead. Man'chi is emotional as he had learned. He has finally made it home.
Chaper 4
The house that he was in 2 is back and the seems to be a meeting tabini wants to have with him. Saidin greets him. His mother sounds like a fuck up in a nasty way. Jason or Jase is dressing. The son of the lore dur from the last chapter is still managing to live in his head rent free. After taking a bath he gets a towel from Tano and run into jase. Jase now has a braid and looking miserable. It turns out that jase had a bad day and was worried about where he was . It sounds like that not only was the paidhi was not only picked for adaptability to learning a language but he was also pick due to self control, it hints that not only was deana was not worthy but bren might have been hinted to have enough emotional issues from his child hood with his parents may have helped him, for better or worse, get picked for it.
Chapter 5
Bren and jase are at dinner after cooling down a little bit. Turns out jase accidentally said the staff where all rain clouds when he was trying to say was he probably offended members of the staff. It also sounds like he is getting better but still not faster. Yolanda sounds like she was sent to the island and sounded level headed. Holy hell I adore this chapter that feels like a hurt/comfort and it just shows just what bren can do to try to comfort him. Also he finds out that the people harassing his mother might be using the isolation to get his mom to not like him and jases dad died just 4 days ago. He wants to try to comfort jase but he doesn't know if he should.
Chapter 6
He wonders if he should try to comfort jase and try to get the phone shit show solved. He also asks Tano what happens when the death of a parent happens around the aveti, he describes it as Confirm man'chi like being in a place to go. He tells them that he needs the aveti may need to check if any of the staff have been with holding messages while he checks out if the humans are doing something else as well. He is writing a letter about the situation when banichi is back with Jago.
Chaper 7
Bren is with Jago while trying to deal with the shit going down. Oh my gosh he has the hots for her. Well they both go talking with banichi and jago on the shit they missed and who could have done it. He goes to bed thinking about how the first book changed him with ilisidi that showed him.
Chapter 8
He finds out that in the morning that they did not tell jase directly but they told Yolanda for some shitty reason. And the dur son's antics are Kind of annoying. He talks to jase who is unsurprisingly upset about not getting privacy to talk to his mom. Bren probably suspects he's starting to get depression from all the bullshit.
Chapter 9
It looks like the meeting then he hears tabini getting notes for damiri wanting to bring her uncle to the house. Dean hawks is a shit and brens going to have to deal with jaee during the whole shit. Bren real uses that maybe relocating could be helpful for jase. So it seems like ilisidi is gonna be back and as quote tabini about how she feels about Bren `` oh don't be modest. She dotes on you. You're Civilized. That's her word. civilized. And you have, as she says, such lovely hair.". It's kind of funny how tabini hates the uncle so much. It's bluntly said that he needs to keep the uncle and jase separated.
Chapter 10
He goes back to check on the office and secretaries before the meeting and to try to check on jase. He is said he can't be allowed to be around common aveti. The interview is kind of going okay about the spaceship. Deana is being a shit again and a quote is back "Banichi,my salad my truth". Direiso have had a hand in deana's kidnapping so that others could kill tabini and bren and she was gonna try to get her hands on jase and Yolanda but luckily they succeeded in the last book. Holy shit ilisidi is a badass.
Chaper 11
Bren tries to get banichi to help him get more info on the shit show. He is also understandably pretty cynical about the islands free press. Jago and banichi are with him. It's really awkward having to explain to a group of aliens about a conversation with a mother and her son. Jase is getting so many flowers that even the servants are wondering if they should cast them out. He is able to talk to jase who feels like a prisoner in the house and he would like to go to the ocean. Jase had to get used to not being on a ship and on a planet. Bren tells jase that to see the ocean he is to try to not upset the uncle coming to visit. It seems like talk of the ocean was good enough to motivate him to look forward to something.
Chapter 12
Bren has to deal with a bunch of files and he is able to join jase for supper. He is surprisingly keeping it together and not relying on using jase as an emotional crush for him self. For some reason they are saying they do not have his mother in the hospital for some reason. He decided to call Sandra, an old flame to him. So it sounds like Sandra had a spider plant named Clarence and a djossi vine named Louise. He tries to get Sandra to get him more info on what the hell is going on. Jago says The Boy from Dur tried to get to him again. Jago gets him to admit that he should have allowed her to shoot hawks in a way. He is told to sleep by Jago.
Chapter 13.
Bren is talking to jase while they deal with tomato sauce and hoping the uncle doesn't get hit with contraband. Jase is no shit detective nervous as hell. Bren tells him to stick to the children's language, do what ever the uncle tells him and listen to what he is told. Tabini is revealed to like television, describes it as a world in a box. The television crew for the rebuilt artifact obviously gives jase the jitters, bren tells him to stay with his security like Dureni. Tabini and damiri are with the uncle tatiseigi. Jase makes a bit of a hiccup and surprise ilisidi is back. She comments that jase hair is now grown out and can talk a little bit better. Cendi is also there and its kind of funny how she hates the vase that is near the liles artifact from the second book. Ilisidi goes to where her grandson , the lady of the house and the uncle are. They are at the part and moving around while bren is advising Jase to avoid certain people and try to be calm. Ilisidi stop flirting with bren please. So it turns put that a human is on the phone.
Chapter 14
Oh Toby is pissed, also brens mom had a small heart attack and is going in for surgery. Toby really wants him back on the island. Well that phone call ended badly and jago was merciful enough to try to get a message and damiri suggests that the shit show on the island with Toby might be a trap. Jase kind of panics and tries to protect the uncle when a light bulb exploded. Ilisidi ditching him to try to patch up things for the uncle. Oh my God is he calling out the uncle for being a shit? How the fuck dude the kid from Dur keep finding them? He decided to try to write a card to the kid to try to get him to stop. He finds jase after he fails to get a contact from the spaceship he came from. Bren talks to him and notices that he is to no one surprise stressed as fuck. Baddissuni had gotten ill from the incident earlier. Okay so it sounds like bren is asking ilisidi for help.
Chapter 15
Okay so the wiring is being fucked around with. Poor bren, needing sleeping pills since the ask for help from ilisidi. Hey it sounds bren , jase , banichi , jago , tano and algini are going on a trip. Holy shit brens moms a batch that made him and Toby competitive even though Toby literally ran off to get married so that he would leave the family behind for his own. Like seriously lady no wonder why bren got issues. Wow his dependency issues might have been to his mother and barb might have been affected. Also they take a van to get to tabinis jet. Holy hell bren has more patience for jase then I do and sounds like Yolanda and jase both had to understand how the planes work. It took home a while to admit it but jase and him needed a break from all this shit. It looks like ilisidi 's 'young men' came to Greet them. The drive from the plane to was chaotic enough to make jase uneasy. Bren a bit grumpy they are on a mountain and is told to get out of banichis way. Their back in malguri baby, bad news is that the place looks like shit.
Chapter 16
Holy shit even after a book the place is still being slowly rebuilt. Well shit jase is going through what bren is going on in the first book. Finally jase snaps at him, but luckily cools down and apologizes. Bren tells the truth about why he has been asking him to trust him this way. Jase notices the mecheiti out in the yard of the mansion that they are going to have to probably go to the beach using them. Jase is still tense as hell. Ilisidi is at dinner with them and and is being annoying as ever. The kid from dur got to the mansion some how, like how the fuck is he tracking them.
Chapter 17
Everyone is just quiet while banichi is quote 'questioning' the kid, Luckily the dessert could be a bit of a distraction. Jase awkwardly asks about fishing and bren makes him go back to bed. He gets to ilisidi to apologize who is understanding. Bren is told by cenedi who tells him the dur kid says he has info that could threaten world peace. So the kid says he saw a plane around where he lived that had a female human speaking ragi . The boy is trying to be sneaky in a language kind of way but ilisidi was dangerous. So it sounds like the plane the human was on was going into trains so that she technically was not on land to send messages out. Holy shit she is ripping the boys to shreds and he knows he's breaking the law. First he stole his dad's plane, then he jumped hotel's to try to get to bren then he caught a train to get to the mansion. This kid pissed off ilisidi so much he makes jase look better. He talks with Jago who tries to reassure him. He explains to jase what's going on and manages to get a much needed chat. Great vehicles outside that kind of woke him up, it was just supplies.
Chapter 18
They go out hunting with jase, jago, bren, ilisidi and cenedi. Jase is a little grossed out by the fish. Bren reveals he brought the gun that was a gift gift from banichi and tabini from the first book. Nokhada is back and he and jase are ready to go. She nearly injures him but he dose stop her with a riding crop. They ride for a bit with everyone and jase has to learn to sway with the beast, not be still.
Chapter 19
Great ilisidi is being suspicious again. The boy from dur kind of makes a riding hiccup but manages to be saved. They finally are at the sea of Dur. They make a came with tents made from the human island and plan to rest for the night. Jase is glad you finally be at the sea. The boy from dur rejiri joins in and talks to jase. It's kind of nice that bren, jase and rejiri are getting along. Well now I know ilisidi is in the 'wait your turn to kill deana hawks' line. The reason why the lilies were destroyed where to try to make bren look bad and deana look better in comparison.
Chapter 20
Jase asks about what bren was told. He visits the security and jago confess they brought his gun he hid in the luggage. Banichi probably senses the problem between the two and decides to gaurd jase aka sleep with him to gaurd him, leaving bren with no bed. Wait is this scene of the bren-dose-the-deed-of-darkness-with-jago-in-the-tent scene? They did the thing, they totally did the thing. At least it was not as bad as alot other types or written sex scenes I have heard of. They use the rain outside to bathe, like how do they do that in cold water? WTF?
Chapter 21
Banichi woke Jago up to know about what the heck happened. Jase understandably is wondering why they were separated. Jase is upset about him being around jago. Oh shit ilisidi knows. He talks to jase about what he actually was going on and jase is pissed about being lied to. Jase is able to be okay for a moment. Jase manages to make bren think about how he might be not so different from the humans on that island with the concept of delusion. God I love this chapter. Cenedi ask him to visit ilisidi.
Chapter 22
Oh great ilisidi totally knows about what happened. He gets back to jase who thanks him for being honest. It turns put the situation is a way to distract others who may hurt those bren and himself are with to try to keep there enemy's on there tail. When they start running jase starts laughing for the first time. This was a moment that bren was hoping for him to have to make him feel better.
Chapter 23
So they got to the destination and a Stranger approaches them. So ilisidi went here to check out why the mail and communications were fucky. Well shit Toby did apologize for some of the shit he said. Holy shit he needed to calm down and those three jago jase and banichi are there for him. Well fuck Yolanda is trying to get there by herself through a storm on a boat , it also makes sense why he wanted to go to the ocean so bad. Bren understandably now has his moment of now being able to get mad at jase. He Is looking through his computer to fund out they laid off the foreign office to keep him from contacting anyone. Well let's just say I imagine rejiri being like "well well well I bet you feel stupid now for thinking I am useless.
Chapter 24
Now they are looking over maps to figure out where the hell Yolanda is. It turns out that jase didn't have a father , he had been born maybe through frozen sperm from a famous person who died for the people and he does have a mother Weirdly enough he was not a expendable crew member but an elite. thanks to brens kindness jase wants to make up for his lies. It turned out there was some code words that Yolanda was trying to tell him when shit went down. It turned out the ship only came to the planet when something happened to another one there knew.
Chapter 25
He goes to the meeting and explains what jase told him so that they can hopefully negotiate. They finally get a message to the ship and talk. It turns out that the human government was so shitty that Yolanda tried to leave and they decided to stir shit to distract everything. They get to a town to meet up with lord geigi who was rather late much to ilisidi annoyance.
Chapter 26
Thank to geigi getting distracted by veggies he had to do some other shit. I can't get the thing out of my head of this scene of all these cool guys about to go into a fight in these prissy ass boats for like 7 to 8 foot people ( I think that's the size.) He goes outside with banichi, jago, and jase outside and joke fir a little bit. When they tried to hide in the boat let's just say that somebody did not like boats. Jase bren and jago get stuck together and managed to get jago to safety with the gun. They are saved by the dur ferry.
Chapter 27
Rejiri is back and came to help. And manage to shoot down some of the assholes trying to kill them in boat's,. Holy shit the uncle might have fucking saved them and Toby Actully came by to see him. He brought Shawn, Yolanda with him as well. Sandra did manage to get in contact that he wanted. And holy shit deana hawks might be dead.
Chapter 28
Lord Geigi got a longer boat and Toby's got his own boat. The idea that a pregnant Jill Toby's wife was spending some time with Shawn's wife throwing Shawn's eldest birthday party with tano and algini dealing with is just so cute. Gaylord Hanks can go fuck himself. Everyone is okay for now. The government isn't filled with influencal pricks as there where and the family members can visit him when ever they can.

Chapter 1
The ship is droping down from the original shitshow with the characters of Bren comeing back to shejidan from his home country from sugery that he much needed. It seems like the aveti children learned about weapons instead of bikes. He tried to talk to his mother but she didn't respond while he was at the hospital. He was able to call his brother Toby with his wife and the government took the files and shit from his computers files. So yeah ribbons are part of the whole shabang with braids and status. He gets off the plane and luckily reunites with Jago and banini who even offer to carry him into the car when he is looking dizzy though he declines. His garden apartment is gone but he is now in neighbors with tabnini. Baji-Naji fortune and chance a common belief of aveti. Deana Hanks is another humon with a rough temper who rightfully earned the moment bren grew a backbone when she treated Jago like shit and threatening to get her arrested. Banichi is pissed with him. Deana was a rivel of his for the title and lost despite her ties with higher ranking friends for the paidhi title. The building is a rank 3 in security.
Chapter 2
The place called Atigeini has a cheif of staff named saidin and all of the staff are women. It sounds like the shit going on since the last book might have effected him more then he would like. Oh great six gust rooms including lady damiri's room. Banichi and jago offer to get the stuff he needs when he asks for some of his things because he is tired. Banichi is noticed to have a limp while the tour is going on. He is still dragged to the meeting.
Chapter 3
Tabini apartment is near where they are so it isn't that hard thankfully. It sounds like they both are similar in things like they like sports tabini likes hunting and bren likes skiing (might explain the love for snow) and we finally see tabini not in a damn flash back with Eidi bookworm maybe assassin, and damiri Tabini consort or wife. She also speaks up on her own, like she is the leader of the country and also sounds curious. Tabini was worried about the shit show from the last book and that touches brens heart. Bren tries to explain the shit show literally above their heads and bluntly explains the shit he went through right after the last book and right before he got there. God screw hanks and tabini would really like to shoot her. Well let's just say paranoia brings paranoia and tabini explains why this shit is so scary. Well hanks might be taking advantage of a indet lord by the named of geigi. They said turnabout ace attorney flash backs. God i love this interaction that they are having and tabinis granny is reveild to be here. Drops a tea.
Chaper 4
Tabini being a bro for Bren. The ship is trying to check if the abandoned ship has anyone. The meeting reveiled that the stations are more litly firting then getting the avte involved and hanks if hopeing to use the shit show to get what she wanted. Tano is back and with the luggage and illsidi is back the aiji-dowager at least in scroll letter form for now. Oh so this is the part where jago offers to shoot barb his ex fiancée after she breaks up with him. Foreshadowing when he thinks bur doesn't hold onto the thought that the atevi saw him as a hero? Also is the conflicting double identity of human and atevi foreshadowing? . Accidentally tips a cup in the middle of the night and getting Jago to notice the noise.
Chapter 5
The damages have been managed to the best of the ability and holy shit the the storage of the list of the correspondences that hanks has is huge. Banini gets him some tea to a way to get the numbers of the records without people taking out numbers. The faster than light is kept under wraps due to superstitious reasons from the aveti. The recordings that tabini got paints the state of department being behind why they want Deana Hanks to fuck around and find out because of ideological bullshit between the humans on the planet and the ship. Banichi told bren that a message from deana was 'go-to-'elle' aka go to hell.
Chapter 6
I forgot about the cast until the scene where he had to have duct tape wrapped around it so that he could use the shower. He give a speech about everything about the pro landers like him may point out that the conflict maybe why the ship and hanks is here before an assassin tried to get him, luckily Tano and Jago save him. He apologizes and forgets the mic is on. He gets some rest so that he can speak with Tabini's grandmother tomorrow.
Chapter 7
He talks with ilisidi , cenedi for tea. Talking about everything getting fucked. She thinks brens ex fiancée is a dumbass for ditching him. Also quite literally calls herself a 'blood handed tyrant' in her rant about history. Cenedi tells him to talk about banichi who is having to deal with assassin Guild shit. Holy shit dose he care for Jago like she is over protective of him. He describe the place as a prison with those he cares for. He describes himself as tabini's property. Jago describes with a distress is ours like a collective. Went through the messages. Deana is just slamming the damn phone to avoid talking to him.
Chapter 8
Well shit dose this chapter hit close to home, the desire to attack others due to a superiority complex. Oh boy that really dose hit close to home about conservatives trying to get ride of info about atevi philosophy to children. Tabini gets informed on the shit.
Chapter 9
He gets a message to the president about the offer about all the shit. Jago and banichi are missing probably due to the assassin Guild. faster then light or FTL is gonna be a real batch to deal with. Bu-javido security about tano's partner algini to guard him while Jago and banichi are Mia, they care about each other in a comrades way.
Chapter 10
Jago back and helping him with his cast. He manages to get in contact with the Phoenix and explains the treaty and current shit show and managed to get negotiations. Banichi talks with him about hanks and talked about the shit. Hanks finally bothered to call him back, barb did message him , officials as well and ilisidi messaged him to see him. Banichi came in, told him about a gun that was smuggled into the room, the election going on at the Guild banichi is in and jago is back. The banichi salad joke is back when he said he liked tabinis granny. The pregnant calander for urgent meeting. He thinks of malguri from the first book mecheiti nokhada in a dream, also pointing out separating her from her herd an association that was stronger for atevi then humans. He is stuck on a hill in his dream with the beast and a figure trying to reach him.
Chapter 11
He gets into a phone argument finally with deana and gets her to have lunch with him. Cenedi , tano are with bren for breakfast and told him that they took down the desire to get him assassinated. Deana gives him the seal she was using to make false orders for him. Jago was probably listening in.
Chapter 12
A committee meeting is happening with geigi about the shit going down, what happened to him in the last book and trying to think of a way to explain FTL in a way that will not piss off the locals. Bren meets up with Jago and Banichi again and explains how the latter is worried about hanks. He starts thinking of looking for astronomers that might be around and banichi says yes he can do it. Sounds like aveti don't really have star lore due to them never domesticated food animals. The find a rather old one who sounds rather odd and bren tries to explain stars. He calls Toby and a little bit to Toby's daughter and it sounds like brens mom does not like change. All of the human land seems to be silent to him all of a sudden and suddenly Is giving him flash backs to the last time people started avoid telling him anything. He called the ship that's making everyone panic and anounce to him that a representative named Jason Graham from the space ship. He is summoned to the observatory the day after tomorrow by Jago.
Chapter 13
Graham expressed his geeky Ness around languages and making bren petty the fact that this little academic is about to get dumped into a political shit show and worries about the human settlement is having on the crew. Jase says they might be worried about everything including the decent to the planet. He talks with tabini about the call with Jason or Jase about plans on protecting Jase. It looks like nepotism is kind of a thing.
Chapter 14
A bunch of reporters are talking to bren about the ship. He then goes reading and writing letters. Barb sends him a message as well as alot of other poeple. When he tries to write to ilisidi and asks for tano to give the letter to cenedi to read and instead he gets a letter from ilisidi herself. He then calls barb because he just realized that people are making threats to his loved ones and scaring them and that hanks dad is feeding the flames, it's also the same fear that made her break up with him and he understandably gets mad. Okay after having nostalgia of childhood with his mom and dad he tried to cut the cast of his arm but Jago tries to stop him, not really understanding why. He gets her to let go and help him cut of the cast, looks like there is a secret code from Shawn who might have know about the shit about to go down in a sheet of paper.
Chapter 15
He is worrying about Jago behavior after the talk last night after the cast. Has a heavy part about how there was no romantic interest in the machimi, reticence in it. He is also in a plane with tabini to go hunting with him. Poor tano and algini had to calm him down after seeing a game animal run in front of the train with bren admitting he missed malguri. The place where the astronomer is has some students want to see him. The astronomer emeritus obviously had to have no name even though he solves a nasty crisis of course that has to happen. The old man also forgets to eat. He has a dream that was about him and his beast trying to get inside with the scholars. He wakes up on the plane back to shejidan and thinks to Malguri.
Chapter 16
He is back with Tabini's grandmother at her breakfast table with her trying to get him to eat after the cast was taken off. She calls geigi the melon why bren is worried for. Oh shit she sounds pissed and he leaves the room feeling like shit.
Chapter 17
He tried thinking through and start thinking about the stockpiling of metal and memories of his mother being worried about an accident while hiking. Saidin talks to him about things.
Chapter 18
He's alone at supper then get a call from barb who tells him what's going on with his mother. Hanks calls and actually does not act horrible, right before some thing happens that gets her attacked on her end. He get others to help and banichi managed to keep him from getting shot. One of tabinis guards baighi is dead and Hanks had been kidnapped great, right when they were not assholes for two seconds.they are now trying to figure out who could have done this. Grigiji . Oh boy is lady damiri pissed at the damages and the shit going down, also tabini having to calm down his wife was amazing. He suspected some things were bad.
Chapter 19
Bren gets a talk with Jase and practicing the language. After talking about Jase tabini asked a bit about him. Banichi talks with him about who could have caused the kidnapping and what is so risky about bren trying to help with with a gun. In the last chapter. Holy shit it sounds like banichi rejected him in a romantic advances thing. They also took hanks computer. He has to go to taiben to fetch Jase.
Chapter 20
The plane is landing. Bren is with banichi and there is a chance that saidin might have something to do with everything. Jago catches up with them with them and gets info dumped about the history of the land. Tabini might have sent them there to go after hanks and Jason. He may have been betrayed by hanks also fuck the heritage party.
Chapter 21
He is at the mansion where it looks like the stuff from the first book made it there. Bren decided to play darts with banichi before banichi tells him he should rest. He bonds over with tabnini over relatives. He also offers bren to bring his relatives over to the main land to protect him from everything, he asks tabini to let him think. Jago and him make up from the weirdness. They realize the rebels had hanks and probably where near by.
Chapter 22
They go into the storm shelter that hanks might be in. Holy hell the shoot outs are a ton here. Great now there's a fire and like fifteen mecheiti riders that belong to ilisidi with her riders, cenedi, Babsidi , geigi and they got a pissed of hanks.
