Table Rule: Diving Save
I’m workshopping an table rule for an option to use your Reaction to make a diving save. Basically: When a Ranged Spell or Weapon attack that you can see is made against an allied target within half your speed, you may use your reaction to instead force the attack to target you. You may decide to take this reaction before the attack is rolled, and choose to either shove the allied target away (Athletics Check), or take the Damage yourself.
Alternatively, you may decide to take this reaction after the attack is rolled but before Damage is dealt, resulting in the attack automatically hitting you as a critical hit. You cannot shove the target if you react after the attack. The DM may require you to make a Perception check to see if you can perceive the attack in time to react, or a Dexterity save to see if your reflexes are fast enough. You cannot take this reaction if you are surprised, or unable to perceive the attacker.
