We turned off I-17 at Table Mesa Road between Black Canyon City and New River, AZ, scouted the area and found a nice dispersed campsite between the cacti. The next morning we took off in the Jeep to Crown King. We took the Backway from Lake Pleasant north on the unmaintained OHV trail. This was a moderately difficult trail that climbs around 4600 feet into the Southern Bradshaw Mountains and Prescott National Forest. You begin surrounded by saguaro cacti and end in beautiful pine trees. The trail passes through an active mine and several old mines can be spotted along the way. Be careful on this trail, we saw several vehicles that had fallen from the trail and memorials along the route. The trail itself is over 25 miles and that doesn't include getting to the trailhead from Lake Pleasant or getting yourself back. Once we made it to Crown King we stopped in at the Saloon for a much needed rest, beer, and a burger from the General Store. #backwaytocrownking #tablemesa #primativeroads #crownkingsaloon #jeeplife offroad #uniquetowns #smalltowns #sunsets #saguaro #getoutandlive #findyourwild #exploremore #adventuretravel #overlanding #journey #destinations (at Crown King Trail) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWBVTZMpzDc/?utm_medium=tumblr
