Bloodline: Stormborn (Pathfinder)/ Storm Sorcery (D&D 5e)
Alignment: Neutral Good - Rorimak believes that everyone deserves to be treated with decency and respect. No life matters more than any other, and those in positions of power should truly be servants. That said, he values his own freedom above anything.
History: Rorimak "Harpe" Ansonn would be considered absolutely normal by anyone who met him. His height is average. His looks are average. His joking and happy nature are exactly what one would expect of a halfling. He does seem to be absentminded, but nothing that is too odd. Looking at him, the only thing truly notable is his choice of attire, which tends to be uniquely magical. All in all, he seems to be the quintessential halfling. But those who know him know there are three things that set him apart from the rest. Firstly, his reading habits are excessive. He will read in the middle of a battle if he finds a good book. Second, he always appears normal. He could murder someone's child, and it would be accepted as a normal course of events. "Halflings are like that," is always the response. And finally, those who know him would note that he is a powerful sorcerer.
Several years ago, Rorimak was the son of a well-to-do halfling family. Well respected around their home town, his mother was the center of the social atmosphere. His father was a mystery to everyone, even Rorimak's mother. All anyone knew was that he came to town thirty years ago, and then after three months he vanished without a trace. In his wake he left two things behind, a book filled with arcane writings and a pregnant woman.
Rorimak's childhood was fairly normal. He was well schooled and an avid reader. In fact, he read so much that it seemed excessive. If you were to ask him, he would tell you that books are the doorways to freedom. His mother was stern with him, but always loving. She married shortly after her son was born, and her husband was always good to the boy. Friends were always in supply, and fun was easy to be had. But while his mother tried her best to make Rorimak an acceptable heir to their name, he had too much of his father in him.
On his twenty-third birthday, Rorimak was locked away in the library reading as usual. And finally, a great yearning built up in him. No longer was it enough to read about the exploits of others. He had to make his own legend and live his own story. And so the next day he set out, taking with him the book his father left behind. His mother wished him well, knowing there was no way she could stop him.
His first destination was to find someone who could teach him to read the book. He was headed for the nearest city he had heard of when he was accosted by bandits. For the first time in his life he felt fear. A power he had never known before coursed through him, and clouds gathered above. Lightning crashed and the bandits were each hit by a bolt. Confused, he tried repeatedly to replicate the event without avail.
When he finally found someone to teach him to read the book, he discovered that it was written by his father. It detailed his family's history. They were descended of great and powerful sorcerers of weather magic. It also taught him how his magic worked, and how he could control it.
Now Rorimak has learned much from his father's book and his own experimentation. He journeys now to aid those he can, always learning and seeking more of his magic. His adventures have brought him far from the boy he was. Should you meet this halfling always remember, he only looks normal.
