ih isn’t bad because it was written badly. it was, in fact, written EXTREMELY CAREFULLY and EXTREMELY WELL to be a fucking terrible, awful, NOT NARRATIVELY VIABLE SHIP. it’s bad because it was written WELL. let me explain.

they rlly DID have a leg to stand on in terms of potential initially smfh. the fact that they met when orihime CARRIED HER INJURED BROTHER on her thirteen year old shoulders (or however the fuck old she was) to ichigo’s dad’s hospital, when ichigo himself has dealt with a loss like that before…imagine if it was raining while this happened! like can you THINK of a more tragic or poignant way for two very sad children to meet??? u REALLY could have done smth with this here but instead they used this incident to contrast how orihime just feels one-sided comradeship with him over this while it’s rukia that actually forges the bond w him by respecting his personal space. that was choice number one that was deliberately made. Kubo rlly took every single SCRAP of potential that IH had and made sure to turn it into IR fodder and DIRECTLY compare how bad IH was to how good IR was lmfao 

like, ichigo’s whole THING is the protector! it’s what his entire identity IS! you’d think that he’d be a good match with the girl who actively WANTS to be protected! but psyche, turns out that inoue’s destructive need to be loved and protected actually brings out the worst in ichigo! whereas rukia, who fought and rejected his declarations of protection till the bitter end, who told him she wouldn’t tell him thank you for this, is the one who brought out the most heroic side of him! like these r DELIBERATE choices!!! obviously there are so many more examples throughout the manga but im tired so maybe another time. but do not ever do yourself the disservice of thinking that ih was just a badly written ship and kubo was just a hack. i mean, he is a hack, but he was a hack who knew how to construct stories. ih was written extremely well, which is why it was an even bigger slap in the face when they went canon. thank you and goodnight

24. What is your favorite canon ship?

I have to go with NaruHina and MitsuTaki bc i can’t pick!!! ;3;

NaruHina was one of the first ships i ever had before i even knew what shipping was in elementary school, and it was the ship that introduced me to the concept of fanfiction <3 one of my god-tier otps for life!!

I have been obsessed with MitsuTaki from Kimi no Na wa since I first saw that movie in 2016, and i even picked this url and my icon based around that. I love MitsuTaki’s story and relationship so so so much and the film is just Gorgeous. :D they get a happy ending and thinking about them is even about to make me cry rn haha ;;3;; they’re SOULMATES!!!!! will their ship name ever catch on tho?? i had to come up with it myself bc no one else really gave them a ship name before...

28. What is your best shipping advice?

Fanon and shipping is your sandbox to explore topics and dynamics that you find fun and interesting, and you can have as much fun as you want. Being canon (and endgame) isn’t everything. Sometimes canon makes wrong choices. Feel free to ignore canon and antis as much as you want because fandom and especially shipping is supposed to be FUN and it’s a way to explore your creativity! 

30. What are some of your favorite shipping blogs?

the only blogs that I’m following atm that are (mostly) dedicated to certain ships are @trephacard, @naruhinasource, and @raayllum. I need to follow more ship-centric blogs. i am following a lot of (multi-) fandom-specific blogs that post a lot of my favorite ships ;3; you included tachi uwu
