♡ Veronica wasn’t surprised she was being assigned to another kid. It was her punishment for going far too hard a character witness on the stand of an adultery case. It hadn’t been the first time that happened, so now she’s handling ‘basement’ cases until she’s taken out of time out. Not that a conviction offense was something to be taken lightly, but the jury that granted the charged’s declaration seemed confident; so it’d be a headache to prove otherwise in time for the next hearing. She had read the file the night before. Examined the evidence against him, saw the photos. The case reports though still being sent over she had the written statements of eye accounts in her file, the one from the victim had been highlighted. Once she had reached the room where he was being contained, the officer watching the young male opened the metal door for her. He left, leaving the two to their private conversation. Well, as private as it could be with a camera pointing at their seats. “Joe, the man in question that you bludgeoned states that you’re the reason he’s paralyzed. Now, whether it was the blow you sprung to his neck or not I don’t care but I need to know everything that happened that night if you expect me to help you. I want the truth, and If I feel you’re lying I will walk out of here, I’m your best shot at not spending twenty years of your life here so start talking.” Veronica dropped his file on the table in front of him, promptly taking her seat and scooting in, holding out her hand. “I’m Veronica.” There was a ring on her finger, though her divorced had been finalized fourth months prior to now.
