Neath: Discover the Corrupted Inverted Tower
Neath is a dark, fast-paced tactical roguelike RPG game that is coming to Linux and Windows PC. All thanks to the ever-creative minds at Cellar Door Games, who just keep finding new ways to engage us. Due to find it sway onto Steam. Cellar Door Games, the indie team that blessed us with the Rogue Legacy series, just released a dark, delicious curve ball during the PC Gaming Show Most Wanted 2025. Their next title? Neath. And wow… this is not the bright, cheeky world we’ve known from them. This one crawled out of someplace much stranger. Neath is a roguelike tactical RPG set in a decaying world overshadowed by a corrupted, irradiated, inverted tower. A tower that literally flips reality on its head. You lead a crew of fragile warriors through this nightmare, making decisions in a fluid turn-based system where turn order refuses to sit still. The wild twist? You don’t just control your team, you also dictate the actions of your enemies. Every moment is a puzzle, every fight a mind game. And it's due to get native support.
Neath is being developed in Unity, so we plan on releasing a Linux build.
Hard to say whether it’ll happen at launch or later, but Cellar Door are definitely aiming to make it happen right out of the gate. Kenny Lee, Co-Founder and Lead Programmer, openly admits this project yanked the studio far out of its comfort zone. And honestly? You can feel that creative risk pulsing through the concept. They pulled inspiration from Into the Breach and the tense storytelling vibes of tabletop gems like Mansions of Madness. The team has been itching to make a title like this for years, and now they’re finally taking the plunge.

They’re also teasing new mechanics, things like engagement locking and the attack resolve system, that could push the roguelike tactical RPG genre somewhere genuinely fresh. It’s bold, it’s weird, and it might just work. And of course, in true Cellar Door fashion, they end the reveal with a triumphant: PRAISE NEATH! Players are invited to join their Discord for upcoming closed beta opportunities in 2025. So what actually happens in Neath? You guide your trembling party through the inverted tower, a place distorted by Taboos, divine laws that warp the world itself. These Taboos shift constantly, reshaping each run and keeping you on edge. When enemies target your characters, fear locks them in place, forcing you to disrupt foes or sacrifice strategically to keep your squad alive. As you climb, the journey unfolds through classic 90’s dungeon-crawler storytelling, mixing nostalgia with horror. You’ll unlock new abilities, discover relics dripping with power, and piece together the mysteries lurking in the tower’s rotten heart. And between runs, you get to upgrade the worn-down settlement of Shale. Assign serfs, specialize skills, and tweak your play style before diving back into the nightmare. Neath is aiming for a 2026 release on Steam, Linux and even Windows PC players should absolutely keep this one on their radar. The vibe is darker, the tactics sharper, and the stakes feel personal, the kind of release you and your friends end up talking about at 2 a.m.
