Her plans were perfect, had been perfect - yet the uncontrollable factor in the alliance was ultimately her own downfall. She had been a fool to think she could completely control Solon and Kronya, all those lives-
“Curse them,” she muttered. Hubert had said it was a necessary evil, but could there have been a different way to further her goals without relying on the darkness? Shaking her head, Edelgard stormed through her room and flung the mask into a corner, fingers curling to form a fist. Her power alone was not enough, she knew... still, it didn’t mean she had to like it.
There was no way she could sleep right now though. She had to take a walk, clear her mind - it was late in the night anyway, so most of everyone should have been asleep.
When she stepped out though, there was a thud. This hallway was not very vast, seeing as it was the second floor with only the nobles here, so it was not hard to miss sounds in the quiet space.
“Who’s there?” She frowned. Had she woken someone up after all?
