Dekarios parties were a thing of legend, often going for days at a time. And for weddings? Well, Gale had put a hard limit on a week long wedding, but he wasn't entirely sure that would stop them either.

A lot of it had been official ceremony of course, and all the things that went with that. But a large part was celebrating the new couple, with drinks and good food and merriment and anything else they thought the party needed. Gale was used to it and he was already exhausted. He couldn't imagine how poor Gwen felt.

So he stole her away, for just a moment, hiding in a dark corner away from his family. Besides, it had been far too long since they'd had a moment to themselves, on a day(s) that had been about them, no less.

He leaned down to kiss her, smiling against her lips despite himself. "How are you surviving, my love? We can abscond back to my tower for a few hours, if you'd like?" He didn't think anyone would really miss them, after all. By this time of the night, the wine had been flowing far too long for that.

An embarrassing amount. Vigor had somehow managed to drink too much and not enough. As a young man, he flirted with a few drinks when offered, mainly just to be polite. When he left that life behind, suddenly a nice Starburst Shandy is hard to come by in the wilderness, just when he actually wanted it. What Vigor didn't understand was how it managed to make him so miserable. Drinking was for loosening lips, or to be enjoyed before throwing oneself into lively dance. He should be dancing, roaring with laughter and enjoying the company after so many years alone. So why, instead, did he find himself pinned to the table, head in his hands, weighted down by his heavy heart? Another slip will fix it, even if the last one didn't, or the one before that.

      He moves slowly, barely raising his head as he turns towards Gwenifar's voice. Why'd it have to be her? She did not deserve to see him in such a pathetic state. The room rushes past his vision, even as he barely moves. His mind floods with too many voices, only adding to his own thoughts of shame and guilt, but it's hers, a voice so sweet and sensible, that grounds him.

      ❝Enough?❞ Vigor mumbles, faltering and ashamed. ❝Not enough to make me happy. Not enough to kill me. Just... enough.❞ He carefully rises from his seat, proving that he could at least keep himself steady, albeit with the aid of a nearby table. He wants to meet her gaze, hoping to see Gwenifar reassured and cleared of all worry, but he can't look her in the eye.

      ❝Please don't worry. I'm fine,❞ he pleads, ❝I'll— I'll go get some rest, I think.❞ He was conflicted, in desperate need of her company but racked by guilt, he could not let her see him like this. Besides, drink loosened tongues, and Vigor did not know how long he could keep his secrets any more. His past, his feelings, all things she deserved to know, and yet, she deserved better still.

            Who would do something so vile and profane? It wasn't yet clear if it was graverobbers or necromancers, only that whoever had passed through here had no regard for the dead. Caskets had been pried open and the inhabitants left in full view.

            In Harra's opinion this was just a detour anyway. A job. A means to an end. The rumoured treasure at the end of this dank crypt no longer seemed worth it, if it was even here to begin with. Whoever ransacked the place likely took it with them.

            Haughty, conceited prick probably sent them here to die. There was nothing in her oath saying she couldn't threaten him. But nooo let's reason, bargain.

Gale loved his wife, more than anything in the entire world.

It was rare that he woke up before her, so he wanted to savor the occasion, lying beside her and just taking in her beauty. Of course, he probably should be sneaking down to the kitchen to make breakfast for her for once, but he couldn't bare to get up. Not yet.

Gently, trying not to wake her, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. He wished they could just stay here all day, curled up in bed like this. The perfect morning.

When Gwen made a little noise, he glanced down, giving her an apologetic smile as she looked up at him blearily.

"Apologies for waking you, my love," he said softly, leaning in to bump his nose against hers. "I couldn't bare not to have you in my arms for another moment."

Whilst Vigor didn't have a monopoly on dark secrets, he wasn't excepting anything as dire as his confession. Then again, how well did he know her? Vigor believed he had a good sense for people's true nature, one of many unfortunate skills of his trade. And yet, he had been surprised by the burdens their company carried. Gwenifar certainly seemed the good and honest sort, but he had met many skilled liars in his time, and knew his growing feelings towards her might cloud his judgement.

      But he knows from experience what Gwen needs in such a vulnerable moment. Vigor offers a gentle hand, brushing fingers as he does. It is a gesture offered tentatively. He wants to move closer towards her, but understands she may need space. ❝Whatever it is, you can tell me. I won't judge you,❞ his voice quiet but assured. Of all people, he was in no position to judge, he just hoped whatever her confession, it wasn't one that posed a threat to herself.
