You guys ever wonder what if Lee comes back and puts the headset back on for a lil goof but it just makes a new "Jax" back into the circus and the gang kinda has to deal with the fact that "Jax" is sorta back but it's not really the "Jax" they knew and repressed anger/sadness/complicated feelings come back?

Cause she's a new person.

The truth about abstractions

This scene first make me doubt :

This clearly implies that the "it would not end well" refers to abstraction, because in this digital world, it is clearly the only thing that can have an impact + given Caine's panic reaction to the mention of Scratch…

Now what we need to understand is the process of abstraction.

How is it going?

It's not that complicated, we had the answer since episode 5.

Are you going to tell me that they are going crazy? Exactly. Because of looking for an exit? In part. But...

THIS IS MAINLY BECAUSE OF CAINE'S MIND CONTROL.

Think about it: Who have we seen get mind controlled ? Gangle, Ragatha and Jax.

Now who did we think they were going to abstract bc of how much it was bad afterwards? Gangle, Ragatha and Jax.

His mind control always ends badly:

Pomni Pilot: forget his name —> Pomni seems to go crazy at the end of the episode

Gangle episode 4: being maniac and overreact bc of her mask —> commit suicide at the end of the episode

At the same time Ragatha takes stupid sauce in the eye, gets drunk —-> Sad and worried during episode 5 and 6

Episode 6, Zooble takes stupid sauce —> more irritating at the beginning of episode 7 (not much because they were exposed to it for a shorter duration or she is used to drinking)

Jax: Became vegan for 1 whole episode + is drunk during the bar scene + Kaufmo's recent "death"=

Caine's mind control has the same effect as LSD (powerful hallucinogenic drug) the more they take the worse effects:

Visual Hallucinations: Distortions in how you perceive colors, shapes, and patterns. Objects might seem to move, breathe, or have "trails." Colors may appear more vivid or change.

Increased Heart Rate and Blood Pressure: These are common side effects but usually not dangerous for healthy individuals. + Physical Discomfort: Nausea, dizziness, and headaches can also occur.

So abstraction appears when mental control leads to too intense psychological experiences. Kaufmo doesn't just try to escape, he tries to remember that he doesn't want to stay in the circus and that Caine is manipulating him.

Caine knows it. That why he was panicking

But he can’t control it everytime.

As we saw with the NPCs who encouraged him during episode 6 awards, or when Abel convinced Jax to go diner with Caine and ask him about his hobbies (otherwise he would not have reacted so much)

He probably doesn’t do it on purpose on Jax this time and that probably the first time this happens by accident.

I think that the first time (when Jax almost abstracted), seeing that he had not come to the adventure, he probably hoped that he was doing well, that he was happy which accidentally led to hallucinations.

The second time (the flashbacks) Caine probably hoped too much that at least one of the members of the circle chose to stay, and this fell on Jax, because he is the closest member to Caine, even more bc to the dinner.

That's why he was first surprised and worried about Jax before panicking because of the "accusations"

1) Almost everything go back to normal … or not

You see the ending of the pilot were everyone is talking while we have a zoom on Pomni looking traumatized ?

Yeah it might end like this but with slight differences: maybe everyone will talk together, everyone looks traumatized or in another place of the circus…

I think that the most possible ending bc we already see a lots of parallels to the firsts episodes: the mirror thing, Pomni running through exit doors, the bucket on Kinger head, Pomni stabbed …

The thing to understand the end of ep8 is:

Okay, they get rid of Caine, the one who, for them, is the cause of their problems, they even can swear! No more restrictions! Like they always wanted right ?

Now… What ?

Caine is gone, but:

They are not free

No activity to distract them

The only activity left is trying to stay sane while the circus slowly destroy every distraction they can get …

VOID

They now are really trapped to suffer. Slowly. Worse.

They not only erased Caine, they erased the heart of the circus, the only thing that makes this place supportable and dynamic

That the meaning of the stagnant life

Caine wasn’t lying when he say there is no exit.

They will either find a solution and almost everything will return to normal... or get stuck in the void, regretting their previous digital life

2) Most tragic ending « I have a mouth but I can’t scream »

I’m forced to put spoilers of IHNMAIMS for you to understand, but I will recap quickly :

AM (Caine) torture the 5 person trapped bc to take revenge on the humans race (yeah Pomni is mainly created to be the main character and our pov so she got inspired by nobody here)

4 of them (Ragatha, Gangle, Zooble, Kinger) have enough and kill each other, understanding this is the only way to get out of this hell, AM try to stop them and almost fail: there is only one human left,Ted (Jax) who help others to die but is now stuck

Unable to resuscitate the others, a furious AM focuses the entirety of its rage on Ted. Several hundred years later, AM has transformed Ted into a « gelatinous blob » to make sure he can’t kill himself, and also alters his perception of time to make him suffer more

This end by Ted saying « I have no mouth. And I must scream »

Okay, now even if we imagine that Caine does not come back, there remains Bubble, who, honestly is the real villain in ep8, he is just being here, pulling the strings...

And also let’s talk about how it’s related to tadc! Without paying attention to the script, we have:

AI crashout, torturing the cast, hating humain

Similar fear and problems of the cast (I'm not going to go any further because in IHNMAIMS it's too horrible to be described here)

But Jax and Ted are still the ones who have the most in common:

Ted is stuck

Jax don’t want to leave

Wait wait wait

If the Stargazing adventure was Jax's idea as everyone says [bc of the stars in his room] ,it means that Caine literally used 3 of Jax's adventures while Gangle, Zooble and Ragatha had only one that Caine intentionally interrupted or ruined (not counting Gangle's)

[I didn't count Kinger based on the fact that he probably didn't make suggestions and Pomni because she wasn't aware of the existence of the suggestion box]
