what are your tadc theories?
Just some thoughts on the show because I'm insane. And I can't sleep and have been thinking about this.
I've seen so many people upset. Because they expected some huge escape, drama, yadda yadda. But that's not what the story is about. It's mainly character-driven and not plot-driven.
So to those who criticize the show for being slow or not evolving the plot enough, then this is not the right genre for you, because you're asking for a story that was never meant to be that way.
I predict they won't escape. Nor do I expect another huge plot twist. There's 2 episodes left. Not much time.
So I think this is more about "existing in a world where everything stays the same, and you can't do anything about it. But you learn to survive it and accept it or succumb to maladaptive coping mechanisms and losing yourself"
I think that's what they're going for. And 2 episodes is enough time to establish that. There's no room for escape. And not every story has a happy ending.
Also some shit on Jax (because he's my favorite, surprise)
Every other character has learned to cope in the tadc universe. Gangle and Zooble have each other, Pomni became grounded and attentive instead of panicked, she learned through the others. She accepted her situation and chooses to make the most of it, to survive. Ragatha is less of a people pleaser and it's easier to befriend her. Kinger is a whole different caliber lmao.
And Jax. I think the reason Jax gets so much screen time now, and the others don't anymore. Their arcs have resolved. Their themes have been explored and they're alright. But Jax isn't. His arc is ongoing and the complete opposite. He continues to destabilize while the others are thriving (as much as they can anyway) and that's interesting. But it's also uncomfortable to watch. This show isn't about happy endings. Because that's not always true.
And Jax, his arc could go either way. I'm hoping he will start to let someone in. My gut tells me that he will mask harder than ever before, especially after episode 7. What interests me is, no matter how hard Jax masks, Pomni can see right through him. She chooses to see HIM and not react to the mask, like everybody else. And you can tell it makes Jax uncomfortable. Because things are changing and he clearly doesn't like change. That's where the conflict lies. Everybody is changing, but he refuses to do so, no matter how many times Pomni reaches out to him.
But she seems to be a source of comfort and reassurance. He lets himself get reassured. He allows her to see him, even though it's uncomfortable for him. And he responds to her influence. Pomni wants him to come along so he does, begrudgingly, but he does. She checks in on him. She tells him everything will be okay. And he seems to acknowledge her attempts without allowing her to get close. But he doesn't push her away as aggressively as he did in Episode 6 either. This time, she doesn't force touch or closeness. She offers it and lets him choose whether or not he wants to take her hand, instead of just forcing him to do it.
Jax is interesting because he kinda splits the fandom. There are people who hate him because :
- he's mean
- he's a bully
- he specifically targets a mentally ill person (Gangle)
- presents himself as unpredictable and untrustworthy
- his cruelty
- he says he doesn't care
These are his maladaptive coping mechanisms. It's all he has.
There are fans who genuinely want him to abstract or disappear because of his behavior. Because he's abusive. And YES, he IS. But he is ALSO
- mentally unwell, probably just as much as gangle
- is leaning into abstraction instead of fearing it
- dealing with grief and loss
- attachment issues
- has panic attacks
- nihilistic to survive
Now, this is important. All of these apply to him. You're supposed to understand him without excusing his cruelty. But you can't pretend there's nothing more to him and write him off.
Because he is both victim and perpetrator/abuser. Both can be true at the same TIME. and people don't like that. You can't ignore his cruelty, but you also can't ignore his pain.
And I guess that's not easy to accept. That he can't be labeled that easily. It makes people uncomfortable to accept that while he is cruel, he is also a victim. He's a complex character, which means he is a well-written character.
His almost abstraction happened, because his coping mechanism, the mask, is not functional anymore. Pomni has seen through the act. He can't pretend anymore. Which means he has to endure FEELING things. He can't distract himself or convince others that he's the funny one anymore. And because he has repressed so much because of his mask, his bottled up emotions come to the surface as soon as the mask is down and it's SUFFOCATING him. He feels too much too fast. Which is why it didn't take long for him to have an abstraction scare. Maybe this will reinforce his believe that he needs the mask to survive. But he's shown leaning into abstraction, so I doubt he will. Seems like an allegory for su*cidality to me, tbh. We will see what path he chooses. Mask and repress, unmask and feel, abstract.
I also believe that Caine didnt do anything to him to make him press that button. Jax lost control. He was not THERE. and he is now trying to shift blame. The theory that Caine can control their minds more than he lets on, has been brewing in Jax's head for a while. He started questioning Caine in episode 5. And Jax is choosing this exact moment to DEFLECT (which is very in character) and bring up his theory because in this moment, it saves him from feeling responsible. To get rid of accountability. Because if Caine did it, then he didn't do anything wrong. And he set something into motion there which leads to Caine's revelation that he can alter minds.
Caine choosing for Jax would undermine Jax's character and complexity. It's the easy way out. Both things can be true. Caine can alter minds. Jax pressed the button without Caine's influence. Both can be true at the same time.
And Jax's room. I actually don't think they're going for closeted transfem or femboy Jax. I think his room looks like that for a reason though. Jax is repeatedly feminized throughout the show and I think it has to do with vulnerability. He actively chooses not to be vulnerable. But his room is.. Almost childlike. And girlish too, yeah. But it's childlike. And I think it's reinforcing the fact that Jax is playing a role he was never meant to play. Performance. I think this means he is a misunderstood chicken fetus in an egg that needs to be cracked open. He wears his hypermasculine armor in an attempt to cover the fact that he's actually sentitive and vulnerable and soft deep down. That's gotten him hurt before (Ribbit), so now he is playing a role (mask) to cover his vulnerability (feminization, his room being girly and childish) so he doesn't get hurt again, because he can't deal with that. He hasn't even processed Ribbit and Kaufmo being gone, he can't risk getting hurt again.
And I did some thinking. Zooble is the one who reached out to him (kinda) in the beginning. And those two are interesting to me.
Zooble and Jax have opposite worldviews. Zooble believes in humanity, Jax doesn't. They are constantly butting heads in the show.
And they are the same age too. They're the youngest, both 22 years old.
I think we are supposed to compare them. Developmentally speaking they are on the same page. But everything else differs massively. They're opposite. Zooble reciprocates by throwing his energy and actions back at him, and I feel like that has to be important too.
And I done. I have many thoughts lol.
Funny how the show was said to be "Toy Story but everyone is a jerk" when really on Jax and Caine (kinda) are really mean. While in Toy Story 1 just about everyone was really jerkish, full of flaws, like Buzz and Bo Peep were really the only nice ones

Unicorn Wanted
With the long awaited release of the Goldenberg Report, Toronato Township ‘big city dream’ of the future now looms as a more distinct possibility all the time.
Township Reeve Robert Speck has already asked that a study be made of this area with the view of forming some type of metro-type plan here. At the present time, the township has its application for town status pending before the Ontario Municipal(?) Board. This application was considered to be the first important step towards ultimately forming a city here with the towns of Port Credit and Streetsville joining up with its township, at some time in the future.
In past discussions between representatives Toronto Township, Port Credit and Streetsville it was a generally agreed amalgamation of these three municipalities would come about in the near future — possibly 4 to 5 years from now.
Any instant ‘amalgamation’, however, was frowned upon by most members of Post Credit and Streetsville councils as they felt such a move would be too much costly for their people right now.
It is not known right at this time what will happen to the township’s application for town status since the suggestion for a complete study of metro-type possibilities here could tangle up this move.
Whatever the future holds for this rapidly growing area, it is crystal clear that Toronto Township — and Port Credit and Streetsville too for that manner — are growing in leaps and bounds. Post Credit is growing up, changing the heart of its-

The Sheridan Park Research Centre — known as Canada’s space age city — is rapidly taking shape and the long range forecast is that it will eventually be a $100,000,000 scientific complex with new developments all around it.
And, to make the whole picture even that much more exciting, you and I are right in the middle of this overall plan.
Township Puts Skids On Skateboards
Toronto Township passed a resolution Monday that a bylaw be prepared to prohibit the use of skateboards on public sidewalks and roadways in the township.
A number of members of council have expressed some concern over the hazards which go hand in hand with the use of ‘ski’s on skates’.

I KNEW IT POMNIS RELATED TO CAINES OFFICE

so im not one to be posting a lot on this account, i mainly am gonna use it to look at tadc fanart + comics 😭 but a thought from tadc kinda occurred to me just now.
going under the impression/theory that the people in the circus are humans trapped with headsets on my question to that is.. how is their body staying alive without food and water and substance? maybe this is a stupid ass question, i only just now got back into the show. but it made me kinda question how the people bodily are.
is the headsets just like attached into their brain and kinda detach it from their physical body?? or somehow the headsets provide the body with water and food and all of the needs? im not sure exactly, but i thought maybe someone would maybe have some ideas.
Kaufmo wanted to help everyone? (Tadc theory)
So as we all know Kaufmo abstracted in the pilot episode. Funnybun- I mean Jax, Pomni and Raghata get to his room and find him abstracted. He proceeds to chase them, making Ragatha and Pomni glitch. But what if he was trying to help them? What if abstraction kinda frees you. So he just gets back to the normal world. His computer stitting open. What if he could play as a character- as the abstraction. But he wanted to get them out of the circus too, so he decided that he would help them abstract. What if we got it all wrong?
What do yall think of this?
(Btw this is my og theory)
