do you have recommendations for boromir lives fanfics you have such a good understanding of his character and i want to think about him

I'm so sorry, I feel terrible everytime I get messages like this because I have never found a single fanfiction that actually meets my incredibly high standards when it comes to Boromir's portrayal as a main character of a fanfic. However, because of this, I stopped reading LotR fanfiction quite a few years ago so it's thoroughly possible I have missed some new great work. Maybe in 10 years I'll post the fanfic I am '''working on''' to no doubt thoroughly mediocre reviews!

well since i've already been reblogging stuff about how the shire is not an ideal society i'll pick something else (that was one of the things that has been on my mind with my re-read of lotr)

you'll know this one if you've been following me since i started this blog but that's not the case for a lot of people so! i hate how the lord of the rings fandom tries to force the setting into the middle ages. and ignores the /heavy/ influence of Egyptian myth (and some history!) in the story. or if you point out that the technology is more advanced than that they make it like it's the middle ages everywhere but the shire. (since the shire is dealing with things like tissue-paper) acting like everyone is just throwing their shit in the streets. there's nothing to support that imao and i wish people would study world history more and see what inventions heralded other inventions. not just going oh they don't know about germs! let's make it as gross as possible! (when plenty of civilizations have existed with cleanliness because of correlation + the whole thing with shit being everywhere being gross) there's no reason to have sewage flowing through the streets of gondor when they have fountains several stories high. idk it just Bothers me.

also since you sent two flames i'll add this: i love boromir but i think people over-corrected on standing up for him and made him too 'perfect' or 'did nothing wrong' and i get it but also his flaw was believing in strength of arms alone and the idea of Strength as being the Best is one that goes hand in hand with the idea of wars and armies and certain countries being Superior and there's a real reason he slipped up. i love him and i get his despair and i understand why he thinks the way he does and i'm not saying he deserved to die but he was by no means perfect and tbh he made me uncomfortable as a small child with no real Strength because of how much he idolises physical strength. like i do love him now but he represents a lie that so many boys/men (and women and girls tbh) are told

Hi tad!!! :] It's pretty hot (96°f/35.6°c) and muggy here today but not as miserably hot as a couple of days ago so I'm enjoying that! (There's even a breeze occasionally!)

3. do you leave the window open at night?

No, I would definitely get 1 million bugs in my room and several lizards despite having a screen in my window. Also I don't trust my cat to not attempt to bust the screen open

14. do you love the smell of earth after it rains?

I do!! Can't smell things as well as I used to but it's always pleasant to smell the outside after a nice rain

Absolutely!! Haven't painted someone's nails in ages and I have shakey hands but painting someone's nails is a very fun activity! I have several shades of gold nail polish that would be excellent choices :3

narrative foil anon but public this time. honestly it still works for me with villain keradin bc like would theo not murder someone in cold blood if his king asked him to? we've seen him be generally okay with watching jet commit a war crime (killing that surrendered cheese). would have loved to see them both have to confront the extreme loyalty that leads to such blind devotion like ik we root for the rocks bc they're the players but like. is theo really better than keradin. NOT SHIPPING BTW EW

I think this IS an interesting angle to explore... back when crown of candy hadn’t released yet me and my friends were speculating about kingslayer theo. a lot of our meta is absolutely unsalvageable now of course but it makes you wonder where his loyalty as a knight lies? I think we can say with confidence now that he’ll always choose serving the rocks family over serving the crown and that’s the difference between him and keradin but I would have liked to see a more amoral amethar and theo having to make the choice between saving the kingdom and saving his king.
