winter's grip
what if everything around you
isn't quite as it seems?
what if all the world you used to know
is an elaborate dream?
and if you look at your reflection,
is that all you want it to be?
what if you could look right through the cracks?
would you find yourself —
find yourself afraid to see?
Before the world ends, it frays.
In 2075 Boston, Operation Winter's End should have been a clean strike at a dirty man. Instead, ADA Georgia Ambrose and Detective Nick Valentine walk straight into a knot of missing evidence, stalled warrants, and federal backing that looks a lot more like a setup than support.
The deeper they go, the less the case looks like justice—and the more it looks like a system already rotting through to the frame. Somewhere in that wreckage, Georgia and Nick start circling each other in ways neither of them should.
Winter's Grip is the first year of the unraveling: the deaths, the betrayals, and the fault lines that won't stop spreading.
taffy's note: and now promoting another very good friend's fic 😊 i am IMMENSELY proud of how these came out. i was just fucking around in cs6 one day and nick's fell together BEAUTIFULLY. it was literally an accident, i just wanted to plop down images sto use for later… and then. well. i HAD to make a matching one with george!! there is sooooo much symbolism in these, guys. so much. it's insane. these were such a blast to work on, and i LOVE winter's grip and steph's writing so much. i'm so grateful i get to be on the ground floor and help with editing for it 💙
