So much about the first few months of pop in 2016 has been about mourning. David Bowie , Glenn Frey , Merle Haggard , Paul Kantner, George Martin, Prince, Scotty Moore, Maurice White, Bernie Worrell and the just-starting-out Christina Grimmie are among those who have left us.

The Los Angeles Times seems to think that Savages has some of the best music of 2016, and we couldn’t agree more. The post-punk quartet has had a huge year with numerous festival appearances and sold-out shows along the way.

Owen Campbell is forging his own path through the music industry. After spending most of his career busking, he had a break on Australia’s Got Talent, quickly becoming a fan favorite even after losing before the final rounds. Now, he is releasing his own music, and crowdfunding his new album. Here’s a live version of a new song that he premiered last night.

He will be opening for guitar maestro Andy McKee in the Ballroom at the Taft Theatre on August 27!

Jerad Finck brings bright pop rock to center stage on tour with Parachute. Finck experienced music industry bliss back in 2011 after his single “Runaway” hovered at the top of the Billboard independent chart from his self-released debut album. Since, he has toured with countless artists and has readied new music for 2016. Check it out here!
