Imagine you and Loki tag-teaming your son’s bedtime rituals. Loki tells him a bedtime story, you sing him a lullaby, and then you both tuck him in and wish him sweet dreams. He couldn’t decide between a bedtime story or a lullaby, so he got both and the practice has stuck ever since.

As you’re tucking him in after his fifth birthday, you ask him if it was a good day. Drowsily, he nods and gives a cute “Mmhmm.”

“Do you feel any older? Do you feel five?” Loki asks with a grin.

The little guy giggles. “Nuh-uh.”

Loki can’t suppress his own brief laughter and starts to usher you out of the room, following closely behind.

You both stop when you hear him start to quietly call out for you. Your motherly instincts taking over, you rush back to his bedside.

“What is it, sweet pea?”

“I need to ask something.”

Now, even Loki seems a little concerned. “Ask away.”

Your son barely hesitates before he asks, “Where do babies come from?”

You and Loki look at each other, trying to figure out what sort of explanation to give a five-year-old so he doesn’t ask any other similar questions for a while.

Thinking on his feet, as it were, your beloved trickster manages to relay an elaborate tale to your child about whatever the stork’s Asgardian equivalent would be.

Buddy Driving
