Nine People I’d Like To Know Better
Tagged by @remorsefulorganthief (these tags always surprise me so much - I mean, you all know I'm, like, a hundred years old, right?)
Last book - while waiting (im)patiently for my local book store to FINALLY notify me that I can collect my preordered, prepaid copy of Seriously Silly (Terry Jones' authorized biography), I am kind of bouncing around where whim takes me between Middlemarch by George Eliot; A History of Western Music by J. Peter Burkholder, Donald J. Grout and Claude V. Palisca; and The Book of Fire by Steven Forrest. All of which are re-reads. (Yes, I usually have a few books going at once. My "where whim takes me" piece is strong.)
Last song - “The Song Remains the Same,” Led Zeppelin. My (adult!) son just gifted me some “OpenRun bone conduction sport headphones” and I’m trying to decide what song to play to initiate them…. (Which classical music is easy: always, it’s Mozart’s Serenade No 10, K.361.)
Last film - Monty Python's And Now for Something Completely Different, via YouTube. I am kind of thinking l may have seen it in the late 1970s during my college days - the memory is hazy; considering with whom I probably would have seen it (old flame Danny) that haze is part Marlboro Lights, but mostly (um) grass....
Last series - "Monty Python's Flying Circus" also via YouTube, last year. Might do it again (for a third time) later this year, depending on my eternal whims of the moment....
Last video game - um, don't laugh, but in the 1990s there was one I played on my lunch breaks at work. I don't remember the name, but it was based on the Rider-Waite Tarot deck and had the kinds of graphics all y'all would probably laugh hysterically at in 2026 (but for the 1990s they were amazing). I finally finished it (or won it I guess) after months of lunches and felt horribly let down. "Now what?!?"
(ETA - I did a quick Google search and the game was probably “The Fool’s Errand” - the description matches what I remember.)
Sweet or salty - sweet, because chocolate.
Coffee or tea - coffee, preferably with cream; although I tend to prefer tea when I'm sick.
Working on - a blanket I'm crocheting for my son. It is slow going because (1) I don't like the yarn (it's scratchy); (2) it's huge (he's 6'2"/188cm tall and always complains about "the blankets are too short"); and (3) it's mind-numbingly repetitive. One of those projects where I have to grit my teeth and put my head down and get through it, row by row by row.
I don’t know whom to tag because I am usually painfully aware that I’m so much older than almost everybody here, and I don’t want to creep people out if I can help it. Plus I don’t want to forget anyone or leave anybody out. So I’m going to leave the 9th slot empty - even if I didn’t specifically tag you, that one is all yours, so go for it. And if I did tag you and you don’t want to, you don’t have to…..

And the 9th one is YOU.
