So I have a general question and I don't mean anything bad by it but you seem really concerned about the idea that people can't filter out ships that they don't like and very minimally concerned about people seeing ship hate on a tag.
Like, it's just weird to me.
LiuShen is my NOTP and I hate seeing it and it's a tag that is blocked. But I'd definitely rather see miscellaneous LiuShen post in the wild than run into BingQiu ship hate when I'm on the tag. If I see LiuShen, it sucks but I'll get over it. That's life. There's no possibility of blocking that ship from ever coming across my path. But if I am very specifically on the BingQiu tag, it is because I want to see BingQiu. BingQiu is a huge comfort ship for me too and I come to the tag when I'm upset and I need an emotional boost. It does actually upset me when I'm minding my own business on the tag and someone posts hate for it and tags it. Yes, I just block the person and move on. But the fact is that it does hurt me when that happens. The knowledge that LiuShen exists and people ship it doesn't hurt me, I just disagree with them and I think they're wrong. The fact that people hate and bash my comfort ship does upset me. So, I find it strange that you're strongly prioritizing people's ability to block a NOTP above their ability to not see unpleasant content that is incorrectly tagged.
You make sure to note in the options for the poll that "people can't filter it out" as a huge demerit, but you don't mention in the other options that yes, people are going to see "BingQiu Critical" posts in the BingQiu tag because of the way that tumblr is broken. And yes, every single fan who runs into it can spend the time to individually block your tag or your account to avoid seeing it, but I just think it's strange how your poll doesn't seem to acknowledge how shitty it is for every single fan who comes to their tag in good faith and has to see those posts. And yet you seem very concerned about peoples ability to block their NOTP.
It's just a very skewed poll. Your verbage on it basically tells people how you want them to vote and what you think is the right answer, because of what you're concerned about. Which it is your blog and you're allowed to run it in any way that you like, so that is fair enough. But in that case, I sort of wish you'd just say "I'm not going to do anything to stop these posts from appearing in the ship tag, because I don't really care about that issue. I do care about the issue of people being able to block ships that they hate and therefore, I'm not going to change the way I do things."
Also, to your note that people would be "unable" to block ships tags... they still can if you're consistent. If you post the tag consistently as "Li/uShen" every time, they can just block the "Li/uShen" tag. You're asking every single fan of the ships to block the "BingQiu Critical" tag, but you don't seem to think it's reasonable to have the same expectation of the people who dislike the ship.
I think I got a bit heated, so I'll leave now. It isn't a big deal and again, it is your blog. I can see that you're doing your best to appease everyone and it's just difficult to do that in a blog like this. And I do appreciate your efforts to appease everyone, even if I felt a certain way about this attempt. I think the rules on your blog are clear and fair. And while I personally have a more negative reaction to seeing BingQiu critical content on the BingQiu tag than I do to seeing LiuShen slipping through my filters, I also recognize that I do not represent the entirety of fandom. Everyone has their preferences and issues. My issues biased me pretty strongly and ultimately, the people will vote to decide this. I think I might also feel more strongly about this because my comfort ship is a problematic and maligned ship that is both popular and hated. There's always someone in the BingQiu tag who wants to scream about how it's toxic and abusive and gross and we're all gross for shipping it and I think I'm just tired of seeing those posts when all I want to do is watch my OTP kiss after a hard day. I know they're problematic. I read the books too. It's a problematic book series with an age-gap couple who have an extremely weird power dynamic and very weird dubcon elements. I have reading comprehension. I don't need you to scream at me that my comfort ship has issues. But they're fake characters and I'm a real person and I need comfort sometimes when I'm having a hard time with my very real life and I still like them. Can you stop yucking my yum, please?
Both are equally important to me. That’s why I made the poll so that the community can decide what they like the best. I also found it fair to point out every con to every idea. That the cons to a couple ideas are the same is not something I have a influence over. Thats just the way it is. You are right that I might could have worded it better, but unfortunate the character limit from the poll does not allow me that. Trust me, I tried. I will edit it in the notes tho. Because I don’t have a character limit there. I do appreciate valid criticism.
I am trying to find a solution the majority of the fandom prefers. So I don’t appreciate the accusations. Especially after I already have said that I am also a rare pair shipper that sometimes runs into the same problem.
There is one other anon submission to this problem I will reply to. After that this blog is going back to posting the things I made this blog for.
