MANILA, Philippines - A fire of still undetermined origin struck the Mini Park area in Taguig City before dawn Wednesday, leaving at least 200 families homeless. According to the Taguig City Fire Department, the fire at the Mini Park in Barangay Fort Bonifacio broke out around 12:50 a.m. The fire reached the fifth alarm before it was put under control at 1:40 am and was declared out by responding fire-fighters at 3:02 am. Read here for the complete news write up.
One of the house burned down.
Our friend's family is one of the 200 families who was left with nothing come the next morning.
The situation is hard and unexpected. I didn't think that disaster like this could happen to one of the persons dear to my heart. I've always thought that people around me and my family are excluded in things like this and that such pain won't ever be inflicted upon us. I thought wrong.
Friend Mik absorbing reality.
I was telling myself the other day that I should get back to 'writing' but I couldn't find any reason to. I've heard the fire news and I was not that moved until I personally saw the actual place earlier this afternoon.
Back to scratch.
We had a chance to talk to our mother's friend and she almost tear up sharing how she is still not able to step back into the place where the house used to stand. Maybe because she simply cant stand seeing what happened to the nest they had put up.
My friends and I couldn't just sit on a Saturday knowing that a friend is in need. So we had our own little version of 'Sagip Kapamilya'
On my way to the meeting place. I kind of felt that this right here should be written. So that when the time comes that affected families are all settled and have moved on from this, I can have something to look back to and I can once again, see that God above does not leave His people in pain :)
We don't have that much of means to possibly provide everything they need in replacement of what they lost, but we tried :)
Not with this empty shopping cart* :D
Because we love and care too much for our affected friend, we gathered everything we thought could aid them and shelled out a little cash for grocery items. We hope and pray that somehow, we were able to bring laughter, hope and smile to the people who needs it the most this time.
Just look at Mik trying to look like a politician-supporting-affected-families. Now why do I see this more of an election campaign post? :D
Amidst any trial, kids see life in rainbow colours :)
We may not see or feel the reason why disaster like this happened, BUT I still believe that the end of every dark tunnel is a light and ray of hope only HE can provide.
The only thing left hanging on the house's remains. Amen Jesus. Amen :)
