Paradise by writergrrrl
In the summer of 1956, Blaine Anderson–born into New York City’s high society–prepares to enjoy his last months before college at the idyllic summer destination of Paradise Cove, where he hopes for one last shot at freedom. For Cove local Kurt Hummel, set with the obligation of taking over his father’s bicycle shop, freedom and excitement seem the last things he can expect in the slow-moving seaside town.

The Boy With The Golden Needle by writergrrrl [PDF] [EPUB]
Kurt is apprenticed to a cruel tailor after his parents pass away, leaving him lonely and weary under mountains of garments, until one day an impossibly intriguing new customer arrives and a desperate wish changes everything.
I read a fic awhile back where Blaine is ftm trans and is just starting to discover himself. kurt works in a shop that sells designer suits and blaine goes there to get his first mens suit. they get to know each other by talking whenever blaine shops there and they end up getting together at the end. I've searched for it before but couldn't find it, it's possible that it was on scarves and coffee which makes it harder to find. thanks!
I think you are looking for this one. I found it on AO3. - HKVoyage
For Who I Am by likeasouffle
Someone who hasn’t quite decided on a name goes shopping for a real suit for the first time, and meets a distractingly attractive tailor. Hijinks ensue. (AKA The genderqueer!Blaine/tailor!Kurt fic.)
hi hi you guys are amazing on this blog !!! was wondering if you knew any fics where everyone assumes Blaine is straight ?? Or like the New Directions being super oblivious to Kurt and Blaine’s relationship ??? thank you for always finding such good fics !!!
I know fics where Kurt assumes that Blaine is straight, and I list some of my favorite ones below.
As far as other people being assuming that Blaine is straight and being oblivious to his relationship with Kurt, I can’t remember any. Readers, if you know any fics with this premise, please send them in. - HKVoyage

In College You Know Who You Are by honorarymaraudr
This was written as a response to a prompt on the kink meme: “Kurt goes to college in NYC while Finn goes to college at OSU. Once in a while he goes back to Ohio and visits Finn on campus, where he meets Blaine during a party. The two hit it off immediately but are not looking for a relationship for whatever reason but both have needs, so they settle for a one night stand. Kurt keeps running into Blaine every time he comes back to Ohio (either intentionally or not ;)) and they quickly become friends with benefits. They also have phone/Skype sex and eventually hang out more together outside of the bedroom whenever Kurt is in town, until they realize they might want their relationship to be more than just physical. :)”

Klaine Valentine’s Challenge 2022 by @klaineccfanficlibrary | Day Eight
I could find the whole meaning of life in those sad eyes
They’ve seen things that you never quite say, but I hear
Come out of hiding, I’m right here beside you
And I’ll stay there as long as you’ll let me
Summary: When Blaine finished college he made a deal with his father: Blaine had one year to make a music career for himself. If that didn't work out he had to go work for his father at his big NYC business. Kurt is a tailor, tailoring Blaine's new business suit on his first day of the job. Idk just read it it's got lots of fiesty!Kurt.
Rating: PG for this part. There's more to the story where it's just Kurt and Blaine alone where the rating will go up (given that people actually want to read it).
Warnings: Mr. Anderson is an ass and there's slight hints of Blaingst. No spoilers since this is entirely AU.

"How're you doing in there, Son?"
"Just great, Dad!" Blaine called over his shoulder, turning back to the full-length mirror in front of him. He tried adjusting his tie for the third time, hoping it would make a difference. It didn't. The man in the mirror looked nothing like the boy Blaine was used to seeing in the mirror. Blaine was accustomed to bright colors, bowties, cardigans, and hair that was parted and gelled down. That was the way he had always dressed. He had liked it. It was very him.
The man in his reflection wore a custom fitted suit, not quite complete yet, with a freshly pressed shirt underneath and shiny, designer shoes. His hair was gelled straight back with no part, a way he had never worn it before today. While Blaine could appreciate fancy clothing, he still couldn't see himself as the executive looking businessman this suit was made for.
"Oh... yes. Yes it's perfect." He says, not at all sounding convincing.
The tailor looks unimpressed. "If there's any changes you would like, I can make them." he offers. His voice is polite, his icy-blue eyes searching Blaine's face for what might be wrong.
"No, no." Blaine says, "It's nothing you've done. I'm just not used to seeing myself like... like this." Blaine motions to the mirror, and the tailor-- Hummel, Blaine thinks his father might have called him, nods.
"The first time wearing a custom-made suit can be a life-changing experience." the tailor says, a light chuckle escaping with the words. Blaine can't help but think of the laugh as adorable sounding, "I know it can be kind of a shock for first-time wearers."
Blaine nods. In all honesty, he wasn't just shocked because of the suit. This week he was supposed to be starting work at his father's big New York company. It was... overwhelming, to say the least. The pleased, condescending look on his father's face that morning had been a clear interpretation of how this job would go. After he graduated college Blaine had made a deal with his father: He had one full year to get his music career really going, and if it didn't happen in that time he had to go to work for his father's company. Now that year was up and all Blaine had to show for a music career was an old, constantly out of tune guitar and a reoccurring gig at a coffee shop. So it was goodbye music, hello corporate.
"Sir, I think we're pretty much done. Any last requests?" Blaine looks down, surprised at the interruption of his thoughts.
"Oh uh... I guess... could you make the pants a little bit shorter? I've always hated having the legs swinging around my feet." Blaine says. He hopes his father wont mind, it's just always been a pet peeve of his. The tailor smiles encouragingly and nods, going back to his work. "Thank you-- I'm sorry, what was your name?" Blaine blushes. He's been behind a dressing divider with this man at his feet for an hour without asking his name.
The tailor looks up, shocked, "Uh.. Kurt, Sir." He says, looking a little confused by the question.
"Do people not normally ask that?" Blaine asks, brow furrowing. Maybe it was impolite to ask. Or maybe it was just strange to wait this long. Oh god there were so many things Blaine could be doing wrong here and he had no idea.
Kurt shakes his head, a few of his turned up chestnut locks falling into his forehead. "No. But I don't mind. It's nice to hear something more than to just have measurements barked at me, for once." Kurt offers Blaine a small smile, and Blaine returns a nervous grin back at him. He's too jittery to be charming right now. Besides, flirting with the cute tailor with his homophobic father less than ten feet away seemed unwise.
"Blaine get out here! It's been long enough!" His father's reprimanding voice calls from the other side of the divider and Blaine is suddenly rooted to his spot.
Beside him, Kurt stands, straightening his own outfit before looking over Blaine's for a last time. "You look great. And stop fidgeting with your tie or you'll crinkle the silk." Kurt bats away Blaine's hands that have been fiddling with the end of his striped tie without Blaine meaning for them to be.
Blaine gives Kurt a pleading look, as if to say Please do not make me go out there, but the tailor just shakes his head, smoothing down the shoulders of Blaine's jacket and focusing his blue eyes on Blaine's hazel. "You will be fine." Kurt says, keeping eye contact, "You look fantastic. Just keep your shoulders straight and look professional, my fabulous work will do the rest of the talking for you, alright?" Kurt raises his eyebrows expectantly and Blaine nods, eyes wide with shock. They stand there looking at each other for a few more moments, before the moment is broken by a voice from the other side.
"Blaine?"
"Coming father!" Blaine hurriedly steps out from behind the divider, taking a deep breath and keeping in mind the words from Kurt's impromptu pep-talk.
He's met by four pairs of critical eyes, his father's, his brother's, and his father's two business partners', and he's so glad that he has Kurt behind him. He may have only known the boy as a tailor behind a divider in a loaded room, but he felt like Kurt might be the only one in the room who was really on his side.
His father gave a small nod, which Blaine hoped was a good sign. "Now you're starting to look like a real man." the youngest Anderson flinched at his father's phrasing but said nothing. His father had used the term "real man" a lot throughout Blaine's life. Blaine had long since learned what it actually meant was "Straight and normal".
"Uh... thanks... dad." Blaine said, tongue suddenly dry as sandpaper.
His father nodded again, looking his son up and down. "Tailor?"
Kurt looked up to meet the businessman's eyes, he didn't look at all intimidated. "Yes?"
Blaine could tell that his father was slightly annoyed by Kurt's borderline-judgmental gaze and clipped word, "Shouldn't these pants be a little longer? By about a half inch, it looks to me." Mr. Anderson raised his head so he was looking down his nose at the tailor.
Kurt leveled his gaze with Mr. Anderson's, unafraid, "Your son requested the length be shortened so he could be more comfortable. I don't see anything wrong with it. This style is very common these days." Kurt's voice was haughty, not kind like it had been when he was speaking to Blaine. The blue eyes that seemed to be alight before were like ice when they met the older Anderson's black and unforgiving gaze.
Mr. Anderson grunted, shaking his head, "My son does not pay your bills, Mr. Hummel. Insure that the length of those pants are fixed or you will receive no pay from my company for your work here today." Kurt had made at least three suits that day, Blaine knew. It was ridiculous to withhold payment for this one err, but it was so like his father to do so.
Kurt opened his mouth as if to speak up to defend Blaine and himself, but Blaine caught his eye and discreetly shook his head no. He didn't want Kurt risking his job over something like this. It would be all Blaine's fault and he'd feel awful. Kurt shrunk back at Blaine's silent request, but he still looked as if he were ready to attack verbally at any moment.
Mr. Anderson smiled with satisfaction. "Wise choice, Mr. Hummel. Work quickly. We can't all just doddle our ways through our work, you know." Blaine's father's voice was positively sardonic, and even Blaine wanted to speak up about the way he looked at Kurt as if he were trash on the New York subways-- not that Blaine's father would ever take the subway.
With that Mr. Anderson and his band of loyal corporate lapdogs turned and left the room, leaving Kurt and Blaine alone together. One nervous and embarrassed at his own cowardly silence, the other fuming at the words that had been thrown at him. But alone, and together.
