Here's something very special. I received an extremely early, generous and downright magical Christmas present 🎁
It's a 1989 taishōgoto synthesizer, it is unreal and I'm all kinds of emotional over it 💗

moving over the first batch of instruments

Daily Instrument — Taishogoto
The taishogoto is a Japanese keyed zither, “taisho” referencing the taisho era of Japan. It has 5 strings all tuned to G and are plucked with a pick. The player presses black and white typewriter like keys that fret the strings and play notes.
I cannot get over how sick this instrument sounds in a metal track 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
If you dig this and wanna hear more from me, I'd love it if you check me out on Bandcamp! 💗
ACY is making exciting music for games, film and stereos of the coolest people <3
[video ID: a brief video of a person practicing the leads to Boomer Kuwanger’s theme, from Mega Man X, on an alto taoshogoto. End ID.]
finally getting in a little music practice after… well, it’s been a while, between work being bananas and then being at MAGFest for a week and so on. Haven’t decided yet if the taishogoto is going to be the leads or what, but it feels good to put my hands on an instrument again!
Also still trying to figure out just how warbly to make it… maybe I’ll have it be really warbly to fill out the background and then have a guitar an octave up to be the MAIN leads. We'll see.
I just love making a flute sound as old and broken as possible 😍

Some twilight weirdness with taishōgoto and a nasty guitar tone 🌛✨
Wanted to see what this lovely taishōgoto synthesizer would be like for some atmospheric metal
Turns out, it RULES 🤘
