THE LIAR’S GAMBIT Launch!

Hello, all!

I am here today to share my online project The Liar’s Gambit!

The Liar’s Gambit is an experiment in online, collaborative writing. The goal is to write a story that both engages with and gains feedback from readers. It is a piece of metafictional fantasy that, with luck, will be steered by its audience! (In other words: Read, respond, and shape the story as it’s being written!)

This project is simultaneously a personal creative project AND a seminar project, so I would very much appreciate your participation! (And hey, I’m going to try to make it as wild and fun a ride as possible!) You can find the story on its official Wordpress blog, and also on Wattpad, if you have an account.

STORY:

Every year the Committee of Writers comes together to write “The Fiction”, a living narrative that plunges real people into a fictional world. Today marks the beginning of the forty-seventh fiction.

The theme: “This year, we let the audience control the Fiction.”

Four main characters. An unwritten world. A gambit.

How will YOU write this year’s Fiction?

PARTICIPATION:

Every online chapter will pose at least one question. The answers you provide will determine the direction of the next chapter. The “winning” answer will be based off of varying criteria; it will not always necessarily be determined by popularity.

These questions will be embedded into the story— watch out for links and/or posed inquiries that you can respond to.

Respond through polls/surveys/apps if a link/interface is provided in-story

Respond through comments. (Sometimes the characters will pose questions that they do not explicitly ask for feedback on. You are more than free (and encouraged!) to provide your opinions on these matters)

You are encouraged to comment on aspects of the story even without being prompted to— the feedback is not only appreciated, but perhaps even essential to the narrative…
