GTA developer Rockstar Games has been accused of a “ruthless act of union busting” after it fired employees who were reportedly discussing u
Recent reports from Bloomberg revealed that between 30 to 40 workers were fired across the UK and Canada recently. While the Rockstar’s firings are not as surprising on their own, the reports suggest that the employees were part of a private trade union chat group on the Discord platform. These employees were either union members themselves or were making attempts to coordinate a union movement among Rockstar employees. Parent company and publisher Take-Two responded to these union-busting allegations, stating that employees were fired for “gross misconduct, and for no other reason.” The developer and publisher did not elaborate on the nature of the misconduct or additional reasoning for why disciplinary action was not considered before any firings. Take-Two expressed support for Rockstar, standing against the staff’s union-busting claims, “Our culture is focused on teamwork, excellence, and kindness. Rockstar Games terminated a small number of individuals for gross misconduct, and for no other reason. As always, we fully support Rockstar’s ambitions and approach.”
