I had some time to move into the next step on this 3 piece bow today so I thought I'd make another quick video about demystifying the bowmaking process. This step is called "the long string". It's called that because the string is much longer than the final string will be when this bow is done. It's fitted with little booties that go over the tips of the bow limbs. This allows me to put it on and take it off easily to make adjustments (you'll see me tap the top limb where I need to shave it a bit more) until the limbs are balanced and bending smoothly. Finally getting around to working on a design for 3 piece take down bows. I wasn't sure about lashing the limbs on but it's gonna work just fine. The lashing I used for this one was pretty basic so with a little more cordage to allow tighter wraps it'll work well and maintain the simple nature of my projects. :) Also, thanks to everyone for their support and interest. My last vid saw 10,000 views in just a few days! <3 I'll be making more of these in the future and I'll address some of the jargon involved in bowmaking and archery.
