Internal work manifested in the external. I've had alot to sort through in the past few months, as we all do at times, and this is the result of directing that work into an act of self love. The goal was to scout, harvest, debark, roughout and cure 24 staves to work on in the future. I went well past that mark and there's 26 near finished bows in this pic with a few more kicking around in all shapes and sizes from 6 foot longbows to 4 foot shorties. 30 in total with a minimum 2 month cure time for each of them. The ones that need it will be given a bit more time to settle but some are already shooting, some are steamed, some are floor tillered, some just need a fine tiller and some aesthetics. Steam bending some reflex into these bows. For those who don't know what reflex is or how it works, it's when the limbs of the bow extend outward from the handle when the bow is unstrung... bent backwards, if you will. This allows the bow to store more energy when it's strung because the limbs have to travel farther to get there. Vid 2 of the 30lb bow and some harvesting. Not sure if the bow is very accurate though as I haven't been out shooting for a month or so and I'm not feeling as loose as I usually am with bows. Sure is quick for 30lbs though and I found a couple good sticks to make more with. My neighbour says it doesn't take much to make me happy. Pacific Yew bow handle almost ready for the glue up and sinew wrapping. It looks simple enough but this one is a real challenge as it's for a golden ratio bow with 3 limbs, two being flat bellied and the other being hollow bellied.
