Hi id like to ask you a question. What kind of laptops suit best for a college student? Because i am basically going to a college and ive never had a laptop and currently thinking of buying one. What would you recommend? Thanks

Hey! There are a few things you need to consider before buying a laptop for school (I’d really recommend getting one, though, it’s really helpful).

How you prefer to take your notes: typing or on paper. 

What classes you will be taking: it’s tough to type formulas and drawings. 

What type of computer you’d prefer: a PC, a Mac or maybe a tablet with a keyboard.

I heard that if you just need to use a computer for something, a Mac is what you need. But if you’re into programming and doing stuff like that, a PC will work better for that. That’s just what I’ve heard, haven’t actually tried it out myself :) 

I actually ended up getting an ipad for myself, and decided that I’ll take notes on it. I’ll take some pictures of those in a little bit, there are several apps you can use to actually hand write the notes, or type, and all in the same place.

So think about what you need to do- I have an Acer Aspire and sometimes it’s a bit big to carry around and put on a tiny desk in a lecture hall. Macbook pro’s and expensive ones like that would be better if you decide to get an actual computer.

What note taking method did you use in the spiral notebook in the picture with the two giant notecards? And where did you get the notebook/what brand is it?

Hey! This is what that page from the picture: -On the left I take notes from the reading. And since I read pretty fast (before class) and will hear the stuff again in class more slowly, I just underline the key terms and write their definitions.-On the right I take notes in class using the Cornell Method, except I kind of stopped including the bottom part. * Note: I try to make my left and right pages correspond: so reading about hunger and lecture about hunger are next to each other in case one of them is missing a key term/concept or something.The notebook I use looks like this, and it’s a 6 x 8 (A5) and has graph paper in it (since I use it for a science class and sometimes there are graphs/drawings). -The brand is Miquelrius and you can find it on Amazon:

There are a ton of different formats and coloring/# of subjects options. I bought a smaller one so it wouldn’t be as heavy as a huge journal and it’s been working out quite nicely!

Can I use the Cornel note taking method when revising? Or is it more suited to lectures/seminars?

You could use it any way you want, really, it just depends on how you organize your revisions. One way I heard of is, on the right you have your lecture notes and on the left you write the questions that you can ask for that set of notes. So, for example:(Left)                                    (Right)Who was                       Medusa was one of the three Gorgons, the only       Medusa?                       one who was mortal. Had snakes instead of hair                                             and could kill if was looked at directly.

I am taking my senior year of high school at a local university and have a few questions in preparation for next year! What would be the most efficient way to organize notes? One large notebook with sections? Multiple notebooks? Also, I am a neat freak, so how is the best way to keep your notes as clean and efficient as possible? Any other suggestions for someone in my situation? Thank you so much, your tumblr is such a huge help!

Wanted to share with you guys how I take notes for a BioPsych class.

-on the left side I take notes on the textbook chapters

-on the right side I take notes in lecture (Cornell Method, it totally helps!)

-I write down my questions or what I dont get on a sticky note and once I ask that question, I just throw it away.

hi~ how would you recommend taking notes for computer science classes? we usually have slides, so i end up barely writing anything but not understanding it afterwards! any tips would be really helpful! thank you ^^

Next, If you don’t understand something, mark it with a sticky note or with a pencil (and write down your question so you don’t just find a random sticky note in your notebook a week later) and go to your professor’s office hours to ask those questions asap! Use all the resources you are given at your school: office hours, tutoring, libraries, online help, google questions, ask a friend!
