Started @xhookswenchx 's book a few days ago, and I am loving it so far! I love the way it opens:

CS Fic Rec Monday: “flicker from view” by: @elizabeethan
This modern AU one shot which starts with Emma and Killian and friends who each want more but the time has never been right for them. When Emma is put in danger, and Killian is there for her, fearing for her safety, they both finally realize just how much they need each other. I’m being a bit vague because I don’t want to give too much away, but this one was a lovely read. The hint of suspense and worry for Emma made Killian’s feelings and my interest in the outcome all the more engrossing.
@elizabeethan You are really good at your own cover art, so this is a humble offering by comparison, but I hope you’ll like it all the same.

CS Fic Rec Monday: “Weak” by: @apiratewhopines
Oh my goodness, I’m late to the party (as usual) but I ADORED this long one shot by @apiratewhopines !!! It’s a no magic modern AU which starts with a younger Emma, adopted by David and Mary Margaret and meeting a slightly older Killian (who is working with her adoptive father). I love how @apiratewhopines develops Emma’s character in this: the coming into her own, her strength and her vulnerabilities both, and of course, the pining. Despite the years that come and go, and the different events that keep bringing them together and pulling them apart, Killian Jones never quite leaves her mind. There’s so much to love about this story, and there were so many brilliant passages I wouldn’t even know which ones to start quoting to you, you just have to check it out and read it for yourself!

CS Fic Rec Monday: “The Promises We Keep”
This fic by @elizabeethan truly does tug on the heartstrings. It’s a long one shot, and it sucks you right into all that is happening, starting of with Emma and Killian meeting as two young people living on the streets. It’s a no magic modern AU, but there is something sort of magical about their connection throughout the years as we watch them come and go from one another’s lives. This was another one that had me choked up at times, but absolutely enthralled and rooting for them. You’ll love the beautiful conclusion, and if you missed this when it posted, definitely check it out now!

One thing that struck me about this story is the unique mood that it invokes. @spartanguard manages to convey so much through a string of brief encounters that culminates in a satisfying ending!

Book Review: Stealing Home
This review is special because Stealing Home is by our very own @welllpthisishappening . If you don’t understand the gif I used above, then you haven’t been paying attention to my conversations with Laura lately. That, my friends, is basically Nicky Hopkins, the hero of Stealing Home and it’s prequel, Out of the Park. Olivia Lewis is constantly running her fingers through his hair, and the visual above will add to your reading pleasure, I promise.
What Laura does brilliantly is characterization. I felt like I lived in Rocky Cove and was hanging out with Nicky, Oliva, Luke, Bec, and Erin. (But not Josh, because he’s a dick.) Everyone has nicknames, and everyone banters, and I have never read a book where I could read twenty straight pages of dialogue and be perfectly happy. (I’m not saying there are twenty straight pages of dialogue, just saying that you could read that much of Laura’s dialogue and love every second of it.) I gave this book five stars on Amazon, and believe me, I hand those out rarely. This one picked up exactly where Out of the Park left off, which I loved because things didn’t drag out unnecessarily. That means of course, you need to read them in order. Olivia and Nick have a conversation, as Laura promised, almost immediately. Don’t trust her though, because you get to chapter twenty one and suddenly wonder how anything can ever work out. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I can say that I loved the ending (except for being sad that it was over).
One other random thing I adored: Nicky and Olvia Marie’s height difference. The way Laura describes their kisses, taking that into account, was pure and wonderful and the cutest thing ever.
