Oh what a night! #talented10 #gogetta @adrivthegogetta (at MES Lounge)
My friend made a statement and I accidentally started ranting
John: Just heard the peeps out in Ferguson have disassociated themselves from the democratic party and are starting their own party. The Fannie Lou Hamer party I believe. It's a pretty strategic move for a city with a demographic like St. Louis.
Me: we blindly give our support to politicians and parties that are more interested in our vote than our real issues. at the end of the day its just about them being self-interested and many unfortunately are more concerned with what they can do to stay in office than actually helping the people they are supposed to be serving
but its mostly our fault they are going to keep doing it cause we keep letting them
its a catch 22 tho cause they will need to make ties across all party lines to effect real change. 3rd party candidates are rarely elected nationally but where they can make huge impact is on a local scale. getting people from their parties and communities to be the elected officials, judges etc. it doesnt make sense that community compromised of predominate blacks are governed by mostly whites.
we had to take ownership this is what DuBois was saying in the Talented 10th. we gotta go back to our own communities and work and them and build businesses and teach and take care of them. too often those of us who get educated and make it out break all ties with where we come from and then wonder why aint nothing changed
question is alot of us recognize that there is an issue...what are we gonna do about it. sit around and hope other people do something? how long until everyone wants to mobilize? we just gonna wait till its your son out there dead in the street? why we let darren be our police in the first place? cause other subdivisions around the city pay more maybe? but the other suburbs also don't look like you. so why don't you want to protect and serve people who look like you? are we really that broken to our cores that not only do others have low value for black lives we have no value for our own lives as well? did we let them win?
Week 2
So much to do and so little time. The more I daydream of opportunities to improve, the more I feel the strength of my forearms. My massage therapist said they were very developed.
And the team, who I affectionately call the talented 10 have been working extremely well. We are all eager, eager to support the organization, eager to fulfill our plans.
And above all eager to have you participate in our training weekend in September.
