He had long learned that keeping his head down in whatever port they stopped was the smartest way he could do. While Phaeran rarely left the Scythe, the times he did, he always had a hood up, always chose the most hidden paths through the port, anything that would make him stay hidden. To any other normal person, he'd just look like a shady individual, but to the trained eye, he was a prize, and he couldn't get caught.
While any other time he'd just mind his own business, this time he couldn't, not when two snow leopard cubs caught his attention, not when he recognized two of his kind, chained and enslaved like he was, and not when he knew who they were.
Phaeran wasn't one that resorted to violence, and wasn't one that had nature do the dirty work for him, but this time, he did. A murder of crows descended on whatever Celestial Dragon paraded the leopards around. The man let go of the leashes, and Phaeran took that opportunity to scoop both cubs in his arms and just make a run for it.
The crew looked at him bewildered when he showed up on deck. He scanned the faces and found Nyx. "We have to leave. Now."
