The queen of the gods accepted the offered glass and tried to look like she was paying attention to whatever the owl-masked lord was muttering about. It was one of the many things she hated about these events - that and her somewhat predicable wardrobe that marked her for who she was, with or without a mask. Gently touching the gold, intricate thing around her eyes, Her felt her grey gaze wander.
The night was young and yet so many were already in attendance, the party already in full swing. And yet, she already longed to leave. Bringing the rim of her glass to her lips, a familiar figure seemed to stand out - like her gaze was always somehow drawn to him, even when she wasn’t trying to find him. Making her excuses, Her weaved through the crowd towards the empty balcony where a lone figure sat, smoke curling from his lips, a trademark tumbler of whiskey in hand.
Hera knew she should leave. Lines had been crossed - further than their of them had ever dared to take it. But the selfish part of her, the part who seemed to gravitate towards him, kept her moving forward. “I hope you don’t intend to stay out here all night,” Her voice was light, nonchalant, but beneath her mask, Hera’s gaze roamed his face, as if to detect his mood.
