Ash couldn't believe who it was. Okay, so he could. He could believe seeing Paul again. After all, they'd cross paths multiple times in Sinnoh, and they'd be bound to do it again at some point in their careers. So coming across the purple haired rival wasn't the most unexpected of circumstances.

Of all rivals, Paul still stood out as tough. Gary was just, well, Gary, and his others? They varied. But there was always something else about Paul that just dug into him like a diglett doing dig. He couldn't deny that Paul was attractive, but he was way too...Paul to be his type.

In uneasiness, Ash tugs his Alolan champion hat further down his head, making sure to mask any of his dumb purple shaggy hair. He didn't mind some seeing it. His friends? Sure. Gary? Fine. He'd laugh, but ultimately he'd not mind too much. He knew Ash's obsessive behaviors. Team Rocket? Embarrassing, sure. But knowing them they'd probably think it was done to be more like James, not Leon. But as for Paul? Ash already knew Paul saw him as childish and weak. Let alone wanting him to think of him being that fan.

"Alola, Paul," Ash greets, fingering the brim of his hat. He gives it a slight tug, mimicking the champion Red. The greeting is simply the one he used as being the Alolan Chanpion. Pikachu perches on Ash's shoulder with his usually friendly look. "Long time no see."

Like there was one scene where Lusamine apologizes and Lillie like dismisses it but that always felt weird to me considering how terrible Lusamine was? She did the same bad things she did in SM but this time she didn’t have Nihilego venom manipulating her or whatever, so even though her intentions were technically good she always felt way worse to me in USUM. 

And then at the end of the game you can find Lillie in Kukui’s lab so I always figured she’d rather stay with Kukui and Burnet than go back home with Lusamine? Plus there’s that scene where Hau calls Lusamine a good person and Gladion gets angry and then responds with a cold “I guess...” 

The Lusamine redemption just felt really forced in USUM to me c’: 

Also I pretend Hau’s “I knew she was a good person” line doesn’t exist because it literally happens right after he learns she kidnapped her daughter, froze a bunch of pokemon, and tried to murder Cosmog-
