To my dear mutuals (and everyone else who sees this post) - Happy New Year!!! Wish you health and success in any beginnings!
the corn wolf
today I wanna share with you one of my biggest childhood fears: the “corn wolf” and you can entirely blame my big brother for that.
when we were kids (roughly when he was 13 and I was 7 or something) he loved to tell me scary stories and legends he made up. most of the time it was silly stuff like: “if you sneeze while squinting your eyes they stay like that forever” but sometimes it was proper terrifying stuff.
like the day he told me about the “corn wolf”. you see...we were living in rural russia then and our little village was practically surrounded by huuuuge corn fields. so you had to walk or bike through them to go anywhere - from next town to bus stop.
so one day when we were walking through these fields on the brink of night he goes: “hey, did I ever tell you about the corn wolf?” and little me, always curious instantly wanted to know more.
so that fucker invented an elaborate urban legend about how children went missing in our town (fun fact: this bit was true) and they later found them ripped apart in a corn field (not true. they just froze to death. russia is wild) and the town blamed it on wild dogs they called “corn wolves”, because they could hear them in the corn fields at night (half true: we actually had a wild dog problem and yes, you could sometimes hear them in the fields at night).
terrifying enough, you say? well you dont know the dephts of my brothers twisted mind. because that huge dick went on to tell me, and I’m going to write it down like he said it, so imagine it in a cracking pre-teen voice:
“but you know what? it’s not a pack of wild dogs, it’s just one. the “corn wolf”. and it walks on two legs, not four. I saw him moving in the field and thought he was a homeless man, but then he barked and I cried out and when he saw me, he opened his mouth and you know what? his voice sounded like yours.”
and THATS it. I freaked the fuck out. I had nightmares for weeks about that thing in the corn fields that spoke with my voice. I refused to go anywhere outside the town after dark and slept with the windows shut forever, because I didn’t want to hear the wild dogs barking in the fields.
like...what the fuck Pjotr? why are siblings like that? do any of you have a story like that? if so, you have to reblog this one and tell me because I need to know.
